Knee pain exacerbated with inactivity - Now ride a bike

Hi all, I have found that knee pain typically gets worse with inactivity. Therefore at the suggestion of my physician I recently invested in a basic, low cost indoor bicycle and it has helped to keep my knees moving and reduce pain. I'm finding it helpful.

flowers17, really great that you recognize that INACTIVITY usually actually makes your knees hurt MORE. one would think that if you don't move your knees then you won't have pain. but joints were created to move, and if we don't move them then they will become stiff and painful. the indoor bike is great. thanks for sharing your insights!

I am experinceing some joint pain in my lower back/hip...and while I have gone to doctor, BUT i too realize that movement is essential. I have been using Elytipcal machine to keep moving! And it is getting better wiht heach day. The option is painkillers and personally I don't have the stomach for it. I amd with you; don't want things to become stiff and more painful...keep ti moving!

Me too! I got one delivered by Amazon and I set the goal to go on it for 10 minutes three times a day. It was about $100 so not too fancy but it does the job.

Don't forget stretching. Who would have thought that something so simple as stretching could help so much.

Thanks for adding that, I never think about stretching

I agree stretching is what I typically forget to do or the truth, too lazy to do. Need to work on changing my thought process and behavior now that I realize how important it is. Will try harder.

Yes yes. Stretching gets me going and makes my day more active and pain free.

Every morning I do my "bed yoga" to get me ready for the day. I focus on each section of my spine and gently push it in and out 50x. Then I do the Pilates100 for ab strength. Next I raise my legs to the ceiling ... rotate them in a circle in each direction...then my ankles...wiggle my toes...bend my knees like a frog up and down slowly and gently.

I do not have joint problems or pain just the stiffness of age . SO please LISTEN to YOUR own body . Hope this helps someone.

Hey ppl, pain is inevitable when it comes to joints mainly because of injuries to ligaments or cartilage. This can be due to physical injury or genetically transferred. Joint pain can result in joint inflammation which causes arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Some symptoms associated with joint pain can include: Joint redness, warmth, swelling, limping and/or tenderness. One universal solution is to follow routine exercise. Biking is the good option but it requires space and good environment (If it’s done out door). Instead I’d like to suggest this health videos flickstree.com/video-catego... which has helped me to overcome not only my knee pain but also my lifestyle. Apart from exercise, some of the home remedies have also helped me out like Epsom Salt Soak, Hot and Cold Packs.
