What often gets in the way of doing some physical activity?

Hi everyone, we are really interested in hearing your views about the things that stop you from getting any kind of excercise. No matter what it is - please share! Mine is that in the evenings all I want to do is make dinner, and then after I don't feel much like exercising. How about you?!

This isn't going to win me any fans but the answer is nothing. My wife calls me addicted - I just know that I will always feel better for having done something - preferably 45 minutes of crossfit type work that ensures I am sweating and am spent. Sometimes, I can't begin before 9:30pm but if that's the way the day fell (worked late, long dinner with family, story time with kids) then so be it. The ideal scenario would be to move it to my lunch hour as that would refresh for the afternoon.

I find taking part in team sports always helps. You have set times to do things, a social environment and it's mostly really good fun (except when you're at a training session in the cold, dark and wet evening).

I agree that if I am busy all day, mainly with work, that by the time I get home I am less motivated to do any exercise. I have made a commitment to myself to wake up and exercise so that I don't have work or being tired as an excuse. I also benefit from getting exercise 'out of the way' in the morning and go through the rest of my day feeling like I have achieved something that will keep me healthy!

Definitely the biggest impediment to exercising is my schedule! Working or doing schoolwork doing the day makes it hard to get to the gym, and often after class it can be completely packed with other students. What I've found is that making a clear schedule and sticking to that really helps with motivation. I go to the gym in the morning, and besides exercising its great getting up early and starting my day.

Thanks Calvin, early start definitely solves the evening dinner problem!
