So I wrote before about going down to 7.5 mg of Prednisone. Since then I am having some issues that I have had before the prednisone.
My SKIN! Oh My! It is itching and its dry! My ears itch and other parts itch.(Not going to name them but you can guess)
When I first asked my Rheumatologist about it and she was like "I DK" so I really forgot about it b/c the next day I was on prednisone and didnt itch anymore. BUT now its back. I really hate this... I remember get sores on my ears from picking the skin off... it looked nasty. And skin peeling off everywhere.
I told myself that this time, I am not scratching or pulling anything. So I might not be too nice this Christmas.
Does anyone's skin itch?

Yes!!! Yes, yes, yes!!!! Try cool showers, I use ice packs and that works. There is a lotion I got at the health food store called Sarna and it works. Make sure you get all the product should use with no gluten. I mean shampoo, soap, every thing. Mine is down to a dull roar now. For a while I thought I would have to get morphine and put myself down!
I get the itchyness bad as well, and also now that I am down to a lower dose of steroids, I have my rashes and leg pains back. Bleh but I am trying to preservere through without asking to up the steroids. I find thick lotions to work better than anything for my itching. I use Sudocream (not sure if that is spelled correctly, my spelling is horrible lol) and also Palm Cocoa Butter, they seem to help the most. the only downside to the Sudocream is it is sometimes hard to get off and needs a little scrubbing in the shower. I also limit the amount of soap I use, and I do not use regular soap in the shower but Dermol 500 lotion, which I got from my Dermatologist. It really rinses off well and no itching or dry skin caused from it like regular soaps do for me. Also I put Germolene on some of my itchey spots when they are driving me nuts, it numbs the area and makes the itching stop. Hope some of these help you, 8)
