Should I call my Doctor or wait til Jan when I get my blood work done?

I just went to 7.5mg of prednisone a few days ago. Woke up this morning with some pain. Its about a 5. Should I wait and see it the pain last a few days or call my doctor to go back to 10mg? I can deal with the pain but could it mean something else?

I got pain again when I went down to 10mg of Prednisolone, I was on 30 and it was a gradual diminish until I got to 10, With all the side effects of the steroids if you can take something like Ibuprofen or Paracetomol for the pain, I would do that. But it is all in how much pain you are in, if it is really bad then call the doctor.

I have had a lot of my symptoms come back now that I have had the steroids reduced but I just hate taking the steroids and the smaller the does the better. But one of my issues is my breathing, so I am going to have to see the doctor as my inhalers are doing nothing. A tad depressing but I guess breathing is not optional LOL

thanks... last winter my breathing was so bad.... i hope it is not that way this winter or out comes inhalers again.

I am also on prednisone. I started out on 40mg. Then went down to 30mg. Then It was lowered graually to 20mg. Once I reached 20mg., I could only drop my amount by 1 mg. every 2 weeks If the pain came back or if I just didn't feel well I would go back up to the previous amount. I am now at 5 mg. a day and will always be there. I am taking this for a muscle disease called poly myositis, I also have scleroderma and raynauds. This year marks 33 years that I have been on prednisone. I know that it is not a good medication to be on that long but it was either take the pills or have the disease get worse. Like my doctor told me.."your damned if you do and your damned if you don't"

I got cataracts in both eyes, thinning of the bones, muscle and skin. Mood swings, high triglycerides, supressed immune system. This may sound bad but it is better than having the pain I was going through and not being able to have the use of all my muscles..

tell u the truth, it doesnt sound bad to me. all things a person can live with. I met people who it made them get real big. but they are on 20mg and more. My aunt is on 1mg for the rest of her life and isnt big. so i was wondering if it was like that for anyone else on a low dose.

I did put on weight when I first started on the prednisone. My face looked very full and round. as I lowed the dosage that all went away. Now that I am on 5mg. a day it does not effect me at all. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

5 MGS. A DAY HERE AS WELL. I GAINED SOME WEIGHT AT FIRST ON PRED., BUT AFTER YEARS OF MAL ABSORPTION AND DIARRHEA I STAY PRETTY THIN. I USED TO HAVE A BIG APPETITE BUT GET FULL REAL FAST NOW. I MAKE SURE I TAKE A VITAMIN AND IRON EVERYDAY TO HELP WITH ANEMIA.HOPE YOU GUYS HAVE A NICE CHRISTMAS!
