I have been taking a 30mg tab of nif for 11 yrs now and i cannot fault it. My raynauds is so much better now, so it is certainly helping. Hope it works for you to, however when the new dosage of 20mg tab came on the market about 5/6 yrs back i found that the symptoms returned, so i was soon back on 30mg :)

Im on only 5mg 3x daily. It does help but im in agony for at least 2 hours be4 my next 1 is due. But they upped my dose to adalat 10mg slow release and the side effects was really bad. Felt like id been drinkin none stop for days. My head was that bad. Room felt like was spinning. Awful. So I went bk to the 5mg myself until after I could see my gp after the new year. And the adalat done nothing for my hand at all. R the 30mg and the 20mg still nifedipine or do they have a diff name and are they slow release or just the same as nifedipine but stronger dose. If you don't mind me asking please x

It could be that taking a higher dose of Nefedipine altered your blood pressure causing you to feel as if you've been drinking. Probably worth getting your BP checked by your doctor and perhaps try another medication which will improve the blood circulation to your hands and feet.

Good luck!

hi thanks for the comments, i still got no side affects an i do thinkmy hands are better, they still get cold but not as bad, i'm not sure if this is the tabs or the fact the weather a bit warmer haha, i will continue to take the nif an got go back doc in a month, i have only just been told i have raynauds in my hands so i am on the low dose to see how it goes, i don't know if it is the same meds as urs as only just learning about raynauds but my doc did say they have to keep an eye on my bp as nif can affect it xx

I recently started nifedipine...I agreed with the dr to take them for 1 month and then stop...they are working quite well for me so far, when I stop taking them if my raynauds comes back then the dr will give me another months supply. I hope to not have to continue taking them!!

I have Limited Scleroderma with Raynauds and have been taking 2x 20mg slow release Adalat(branded nifedipine) for about 4 years now - 1 first thing in the morning and 1 at about 6pm. They really suit me and have lessened my 'attacks' and I've had no ulcers on my fingers since I started taking them. I have read many people on this site saying they have side effects - but they are very good if you can tolerate them.

hi angela-lee, i am still taking the nif, i do find i feel tired a lot more so think this may be a side affect but it is not worrying me, my finger tips are still getting very cold so think when i go back the doctors i will have tabs put up, the sores on my two fingers are still quiet sore but i have been told they will take time to heal....the pain in my fingers can still be really bad at times but hopefully will get better...xx
