was put on Nifedipine 3 weeks ago 1 tablet 3 times a day 5mg each tab , wow my hands and feet felt better, and my moods felt better (probably because i felt warmer !) But now i cant get any more tablets because of manufacturing problem any body else out there with the same problem ??
The last lot I got was in different packet and the tablets were a different colour but the chemist assured me they were the same as the nepifitine I had been taking. This was about 2 weeks ago so my be the problems were starting then. I am going for some more today o will see what i get.
Hi I take nifedepine 5 mgs and have been told the problem is short use by dates-July, I think. I said I would take them, rather tgan nothibg, and the pharmacy got me some. They offered me amlodopine as an alternative but they cause me muscle prlems. Good luck!
Hi. I am same as Pipsmum and had the expiry date of July on. The pharmacy did also make up rest of prescription with Adalat (or something spelt like that) which says on leaflet in brackets nifidipene..
Like you Gizmo 75 my hands, feet and mood is much better for being on these tablets
hi, yes mine are called Adalat so i think the problem might be quite big ? i've been told they can't give me anything else as Nifedipine is only liscenced for Raynauds , so i am trying to make mine last by having 1 a day 5mg ,which to be honest does nothing oh well back to cold hands and feet for a while
I am due to order another perscription at end of month, do hope there isn't any problems getting some Don't think people realise how much Raynaud's affect us, I was getting progressively worse and feeling down right miserable until I started on these tablets. Hope you manage to get some sorted out soon
Nifedipine comes in different mg strengths, check w/your doctor maybe it is just that strength? I take a 30mg tablet daily and it is a slow release. No trouble getting it.
glad I am not the only one who has problems... I am still owed 38 tablets from my last script and that was 2 months ago. The tablets I have are dated end of june and because of manufacturing shortages I cant get them. I take 15mg a day (Adalat which was the new lot the chemist could get in) and the chemist has advised that they have plenty of the 10mg slow release, so have to speak to doctor to get it changed. that there poses yet another problem..... 5 week waiting for an appointment!!!!!!! luckly I managed to get a cancellation spot for next friday with a doctor I have never dealt with personally
I get the TEVA brand, and having spoken to them, it seems those are the only ones affected. Adalat are no good for me, unfortunately. The thing is, if I reduce my dose, I get the cold problems, but then when I increase again, I get the flushing and headaches for a while. Maybe we should try and get an email address for TEVA and email them individually, if they are the brand you use. It might just make them sort the date problem out. Of course, if it's a quality issue, then we have no chance of getting them. Incidentally, there was a shortage some time ago, maybe a year, and it was only certain distributors who who were unwilling to pay the correct price for them. I think it might have been Boots/Morrisons pharmacies, but I'm not sure.
This is very interesting because over the past 3 months my chemist has apologised because they are unable to supply me with my full prescription of nifedipine. They have put an IOU for x amount of tablets owing.
If you look on the leaflet that is always provided in any box of medication, you will find Marketing Authorisation Holder and Manufacturer.
It will give the name and address of said Holder, if you put this information through the internet it will provide you with an E-Mail address that you may then use to communicate your concerns to the Manufacturers directly.
I take a 90 mg extended release form of Nifedipine daily. I also have seen it come under the names Procardia and Adalat CC and to me they all work the same.
Hi thank you for your comments very usefull. I think I need a stronger dose. My toes have started to swell up and blister agony walking ,
hi everyone , good news ive finally been put on slow release Nifedipene 20mg . There is no problems getting hold of these ! just have to wait for them to get working
