I have developed revolting ringworm on my feet which seems to be spreading in spite of the anti fungal cream I got from the chemist

Is it in anyway connected to the scleroderma? I probably will go to the doctor this week, but just wondered if it's the compromised immune system/skin problems that are causing it.

Have just come back from the doctor who has given me hydrocortizone and a special foot wash. She didn't seem to think it was connected to the scleroderma, but I am not so sure. Any opinions?

I have never seen anyone else posting about it in here or the other sites I use. Not sure why Sceroderma would cause it as I didnt think you got ring worm due to low tolerant immune system. Colds and infections I would say yes, as I tend to get everything that is going around. But I have never had ring worm.

No problem, and who knows we get everything else due to the lovely Scleroderma! I hope your cream works quickly and you are wormy free very soon. 8)

That sounds gross! This is the trouble - we put everything down to the scleroderma. Hopefully my "lovely" feet will soon be ok. Thanks for replying.

Hi RosemerryVenet,

Are you sure this is ringworm? I have been having lots of skin problems since 1997 and all the docs, including three dermatologists swore the patches, lesions, dark spots and rashes were due to insect bites, fungus, you name it. Nothing that was prescribed helped and still doesn't. These things appear at will and are all sorts of shapes and sizes. They itch like crazy then leaves the permanent scars even on the soles of my feet and palms.

It was only when I was diagnosed with autoimmune disorder in 2004 that everything fell into place. I am tormented still by skin problems, still taking pills and rubbing on the creams and potions, nothing helps. My legs look as if I am being bitten by insects constantly but I know that's not the case.

The skin problems you are having is a symptom of your overall condition and is definitely connected to the scleroderma. Your doctor is right. I try to manage as best I can but it is a real challenge. I know how you feel. You are not alone if that's any comfort. I wish you well and hope you find some effective treatments. Keep in touch.
