Raynaud's is causing me depression! I am 32 and my hands look like they belong to a 60 year old woman. I have scars caused from ulcers from raynauds and currently my hands are split and raw in all the cracks. Ouch

Do you cream your hands? Do you keep yourself bodily warm? What does your specialist say? Do you need/ receive Iloprost?

Best wishes

My hands are like that mostly in the winter but still get these symptoms in the summer. My Raynaud's was diagnosed when I was 17 and now 55 so have lived with this for years. You do need to put plenty of cream on your hands I am using AVEENO moisturising skin relief lotion at the moment and i find it very good. You can get it in Supermarkets and it is made by Johnson and Johnson. Also, you need to speak to your nurse specialist if you are under a rheumatologist who will be able to provide you with good information and maybe provide you with some hand wax. You could also contact the RSA as they also have plenty of info. As Zenabb mentioned have you ever had ILOPROST this will help with the skin and Ulcer healing.

As mentioned re the Aveeno cream, you can now get this on prescription. Speak to your gp about this. I also like the neutrogena concentrated hand cream which is not on script. If you are washing dishes, peeling veg, cleaning etc always wear rubber gloves to protect your hands. Apply hand cream every time you dry your hands. I agree with your replies, you need to seek medical advice to improve the circulation. Your gp could also help with your depression to stop it taking hold.

Nuala, thanks for the info on AVEENO re prescription.. However, my GP is awful its like getting blood out of a stone, I dont think he will prescribe this for me its hard enough getting painkillers from him when my fingers are really bad with ulceration. x GGGRRRRR

Change GP. He is not in charge of you, you are in charge of you. Nowadays we can read our notes, ask questions, expect treatment. We should no longer sit back and wait, we are expected to be in charge of ourselves. If your doctor does not contact you, you contact him/ her.

I agree with zenabb, change your gp. He should be trying his best for you to aleviate your symptoms. You deserve better as you are suffering. Go chat to him and see what he says. Good luck
