can anyone tell me if raynaud's is cl... - Scleroderma & Ray...
can anyone tell me if raynaud's is classed as a disability ?
Tracy
Raynaud's can be a disability but is not a disability by definition. I have Raynaud's but it does not substantially affect by ability to carry out normal day to day activities, so it is very unlikely I could claim it to be a disability. If you were severely affected by eg ulcers, then I am sure it would mean you met the legal test.
I hope this helps. I am a retired solicitor.

Do you have Raynaud's on its own? without complications? I have Raynaud's and scleroderma and find walking very difficult. I have been given a blue badge for parking.
When i applied for ESA i was told that raynauds was a recognized disability by DWP but when i applied for it was i was turned down as i was able to walk and make a meal even though i might not be able to do this on bad days i am lobbying my MP
I cant get ESA even with Scleroderma, hypothyroidism and autoimmune liver probs. I dont class myself as disabled i just fit around life.
Before I give an answer, will you tell me what ESA and DWP are? They are not familiar with me.
The best way to check the definition of a disability is on the HSE ( Health &Safety Executive) website.
I was a hill walker & now I can't walk more than a few yards/ climb stairs without severe pain & my muscles running out if steam! So yes, my life is adversely impacted & I am disabled by my conditions.
