Covid and flu vaccine

I had both my covid and flu boosters yesterday and have just had a really uncomfortable night. I was experiencing fever and chills and pain all over my body. Has anyone else had this problem? I wondered if it was associated with the scleroderma as my body always does overreact to anything foreign. I’m thinking perhaps having my boosters separated might help, still feel really rough this morning

I had both shots at the same time too. The next day my arms were sore from the shots and I was really tired, but no fever or chills. Feel Better

I had my jabs on Friday lunchtime. I got no sleep that first night whilst experiencing headache, trembling, a lot of soreness from the flu jab. On rising, I was very dizzy - pretty well bouncing of the walls in the lobby. The following night I had some cocodamol and did sleep as I did again this afternoon. I have never had these symptoms before so will have the jabs separately next time around.

I had the flu vaccine on Saturday. (I’m having Covid one next Saturday). I did have in the morning a bad diarrhoea session but it had cleared up. It came back with a vengeance later in the afternoon and I felt incredibly weak and flu ish. Terrible two nights with restless legs as well. This morning I seem fine so far! I do have Sibo and was on my last day of Rifaximin and get alternating constipation and diarrhoea but the jab did seem to make it worse. Worth it though as I don’t want flu as I’m terribly underweight!

Hope you are feeling better

Thank you for your reply. I’m slowly getting there but feel very weak and such a sore arm☹️. Trouble with this disease is it seems so hard to take the knock backs you would have coped with before! Onwards and upwards😅

I work in healthcare. May of my patients have been fine with the combined shot, many have been floored with it. We are all different, you can’t really pin it down to anything in particular as some of my oldest illest clients have had no problems. Next year you may have it and be fine. Who’s to say you hadn’t come into contact with another virus just before your vaccination? There are so many variables and it’s such a subjective issue. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Clangercat, hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. Every time I have a Covid injection I have a night of chills and sweats too, and a few days later my lupus has a flare, though it may be the scelerderma! So I missed my jabs 6 and 7. Decided I had better have the next one, but will have it a week after my flu jab. All booked. Then I have to fit in my second Shingrix - no reaction with the first one.

I had the initial vaccine but after the third time I had such a bad reaction that I have not had the vaccines for 2 years. It’s a personal choice and I wouldn’t say I’m an anti but I think we have to learn to live with various infections and build our own immune response. Do we really know what is being pumped into our bodies every year?

Hi, yes I had the same symptoms on my first dose. The second and third I have taken paracetamol before and after and was ok. I suffer of pain all over my joints anyway but it was very accentuated after the vaccine.

Thank you, I have never suffered with any adverse side effects before but it has certainly been bad enough to make we wonder if I want to have another one. Good idea to start the paracetamol before you go though.

Yes I feel the same, not sure if I am brave enough to have the vaccine again. Hope you feel better.

I had Covid yesterday and was fine for 4 hours then suddenly felt rubbish ... hot and cold, shivering, stiff and tired. I have slept most of the day today and now feeling better. My 92 year old mum who doesn't have scleroderma had been fine!

Thank you all for your kind replies, I’m certainly not the only one who has had problems! Feeling more like myself now.😀

I have something to say, but need to test to see if this records, as recent efforts have ‘disappeared’

I too have had a rotten reaction this time, I had both together last time & was rough, so I had the C19 5 days after the ‘flu, that I’d only had a sore arm with for a couple of days. This vaccine has been the worst ever, for me. Good luck with your decision, it’s in the lap of the gods! X

I was the same. Took 2 paracetamol when I got back in, but during the night I ached all over and was burning up. Took a few days before I felt better.

Further to my previous comments, I managed to get a test kit and I have Covid, I think I got it at the vaccination centre where I stood in a queue for up to 30 minutes.

Hi, yes I was exactly the same last week after my covid and flu jags. Fever, chills and aching all over. I think i’ll ask to get mine separately in the future too see if it makes a difference. Hope you feel better soon. After 48 hours I felt a lot better.

Only just viewed this post so late reply. I had the same reaction and felt quite poorly for several days with flu like symptoms, headaches etc., which I’ve not experienced so intensely before. Strangely I also had a horrible taste in my mouth for a week and certain foods didn’t taste the same. I seem to remember that a strange taste in the mouth was one of the original symptoms when Covid first hit. I had the flu and Covid jab at the same time, so both arms were really sore as well. I would have both jabs next year again but definitely not on the same day, think it was too much for my body to cope with! Hope your feeling better now.

.Thank you for your reply, I am back to myself now but this has obviously been a problem for many people this year! Will definitely have the vaccines separately next year and dose with paracetamol 🤒

I had my flu and second shingrix jabs last week and had a night of sweats and shivering, then this week I had my Covid jab, what a terrible night I had! Extreme sweats and shivers and a pounding heart. My Fitbit told me the pounding heart started with my sweating. 110 to 130 beats per minute, panic time as I live alone. 111 told me to go to a walk in clinic, normal ecg and bp thank goodness. The doctor explained the heart goes into overdrive when you have a temperature and to take paracetamol, so I did and it worked. My rheumatologist consultant had told me to keep off paracetamol as taking so many pills!

Had a good night’s sleep (for me) and so much better.

I have decided no more Covid jabs, I had forgotten I said that a year ago, my daughters said.

Oh Redwine horrible for you especially being on your own. It’s so hard to balance what you feel you should do with what’s actually best for you. Hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Exactly the same after effects. Plus , dreadful diahorrea, and worst of all, serious chest pain and breathlessness, from which I am still suffering after six weeks!!

I’m 93, and have Scleroderma

Concerned at the rise of problems when the flu and Covid injections are given together

Report the incidence to the rather pathetic government attempt to collect figures on this, via the Yellow Card’ scheme online

Look up the , after effects’
