Best foundation for telangiectasia?

Hi all,

Anyone out there found a good foundation to cover telangiectasia on the face? I was diagnosed with systemic sclerosis 3 years ago. I know it seems trivial with all the other things we have to deal with but the redness on my face gets me down sometimes and I wondered if anyone has found the holy grail of cover up’s . I’m using double wear at the moment.

Thank you 😀

Not trivial at all. Have you tried a concealer under your foundation? Some of them are quite effective. 😊

Hi there, I wonder whether the charity Changing Faces would be able to help you. They have a skin camouflaging service so they will have experience with a wide range of issues. I think it's changingfaces.org.ukLucy xx

Rosalique Miracle Formula. Bit pricey but lasts for ages...

Hi - I use Vichy Dermablend corrective foundation. They also have a cover stick concealer which is great if you have any really especially intense bits!

I have used L’Oréal infallible total cover for a number of years. It covers my red dots which are ALL over my face. I do not leave the house without foundation as I am so self conscious of the curse of the red blobs.

Don’t really need any concealer with my foundation. Now for the bad news! L’Oréal discontinued this foundation 😡😡. I have managed to find a supply online (eBay I think). I am trying to preserve my stash by using the other 15 foundations I have bought previously but I have never found one that covers as well.

Try it, see what you think. It’s not expensive so if you don’t like it you haven’t wasted lots of money

Hi, I use a combination of cream and powder foundation. I layer them, cream first and finish with powder. I’ve tried numerous combinations and brands over the years. I have found that the camouflage make up is too greasy for my skin type and feels very heavy for daily wear. It’s definitely been a labour of trial and error.

Maybe try a contour stick, it's generally thicker and also finish with pressed powder and setting spray. I use matte setting spray and matte setting powder max factor and I use rimmel 48hr wear foundation also in matte so it's not shiny on my skin. And just as a side note primark makeup like they're contour sticks etc are actually quite good and cheerfully cheap x

Hi Helen,I also use Vichy Dermablend corrective foundation, plus Dermablend SOS coverstick.

BareMinerals original powder foundation I would also recommend. In the past I have used Bareminerals concealer too, in a little pot.

Thank you so much everyone. I have ordered some of your suggestions. Good job it was pay day recently. I have really dry skin so at the moment I’m struggling with coverage v’s flaky skin. Oh the joys.

I love BareMinerals powder too, used over Rosalique 3 in 1 anti redness miracle formula which turns the red patched brown and allows the powder to blend the colour. Both worth the money as they last well and do the job.

Which Bare Minerals do you suggest? I tried this brand years ago and felt like I was wearing dried cake batter. I’ve been searching for the miracle product since 1988. The closest for full coverage was Max Studio Fix, but it also felt cakey.

Today, I use L'Oreal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum Foundation with a NYX concealer. It doesn’t cover them, but it does make my skin look more like freckles than telengectasias—my face has them all over the butterfly region and they’re quite purple-red, the worst! I decided I cared more about a natural coverage than a complete white-out.
