Half of my throat has felt numb for the past 8 or 9 years. When I cough or clear my throat I don't feel anything on one side of my throat. I always seem to have a lot of mucus in the numb side of my throat. I am constantly coughing or clearing my throat. I do have reflux for which I take Lanzoprazole. I was scoped by an ENT surgeon 2 years ago for another reason and he said my throat looked healthy. I think it is a function problem. I lie on my right side which is the numb side, so I thought it might be acid reflux related, but it looks healthy. Does anyone else have this problem?

Numb side of throat
I experience a lot of post nasal drip which contributes to me constantly clearing my throat. I have had 2 endoscopies and been told all looks good inside, but I have motility issues. I have been told it is LSSc and acid reflux related.
Yes. I can’t feel anything on my left side when I swallow. Been scoped twice as well. Just finished voice therapy. Told my vocal chord muscles are tense. I’ve done swallow studies and I do have esophageal dysmotility. I also have mild aspiration. MRI brain always clean. This is probably a sequela of small fiber neuropathy if I had to guess. I have SLE + aPL.
Things I found helped with secretions, cough. I do a daily warm saline rinse (neilmed) followed by nasocort, astelin, nasal chrom nasal sprays. I also take guaifenesin 1200 mg daily. This keeps me dry most of the day.
I can’t tolerate PPIs because they constipate me horribly so I take famotidine 40-60 mg with dinner. But I also have documented GERD.
