Raynaud's phenomenon in legs?

Hi, I'm pretty new to Raynaud's but am certain I have it. I find that when outside in the cold or running on a treadmill, after about 10 minutes I feel a painful burning sensation in my legs that won't go until I get into a warm place. Because I can't drive it really affects me as I have to walk and take public transport but know I wont be able to last a walk that's longer than 10 minutes. Does anyone else experience this or now how it can be treated?

Hi there,

I'm no expert, but what you are describing doesn't seem 'typical' of Raynaurd's.

Perhaps see your G.P (and take photos of your legs if you can before you go), and ask for some blood tests as this might shed some light on the symptoms you're experiencing?

Mm, I only get Reynauds in my hands and they go cold and numb - and shades from white, through bluish, to mauve grey on the fingers, especially the tips. Warming them up brings them back to pink. I don't often get tingling, but when I do it is on warming up, not while they are cold. Are you having any colour changes on your legs?

Hi, I have Raynaud's which affects my hands and feet. They become very cold and turn white and sometimes blue in the cold. Occasionally my fingers turn grey. It's caused by lack of blood supply to the extremities. I'm not aware of any specific treatment. I also have scleroderma and I believe Raynaud's is common in Scleroderma sufferers.

Hi Johnot, like others said, your symptoms dont sound like typical Raynauds though people experience things differently. Cold weather and inactivity brings about my finger tips and toes get white ot dark blueish purple and painful. However, exercuse like walking helps my blood flow and reduces the numbness and pain, depending on if the level of exercise is enough to cause my blood to start warming up and circulating again.

Hi there not sure whether that sounds like raynaurds,if I run outside in cold weather it feels like cold air if filling my lungs and affects my breathing on a treadmill it's fine because you are in a warm place. Raynaurds affects blood vessels, causing fingers and toes to go white then look bruised when blood returns to them, before I started iloprost Infusions I got cold water sensation in lower half of my legs. Maybe you need to see your GP, possibly arthritis? Take care and hope you get this problem solved.

It sounds like you have developed EM - Erythromelalgia. My EM started in my knees, which I was told is rare, but does happen.
