This is my first post. I have just had surgery to remove calcification of shoulder and repair ligaments and shave off part of bone. Only day 2 so still in a sling. Has anyone else had this surgery a while ago? Did it help a lot? Any recurrence after surgery as I will eventually need this in my other shoulder but probably wouldn't put myself through it if recurrence of calcification is common. My hip is also a problem but surgeons less keen to address this as they said it is more difficult. Advice would be welcomed.

Hi, haven't had surgery but do have the calcium and surgery was mentioned as an option. Out of interest what were your symptoms apart from the obvious, did you try steroid injections? They have done nothing for me! Did you wait long for surgery? Wishing you all the best and hope it works for you, XX
Thanks for your reply. I have very little movement in arms and was finding it hard to sleep on either side. I had steroid injections for years and they initially helped but I was banned from having any more and the last one didn't work. They said they were probably weakening my ligaments. I only waited a couple of months for surgery. I won't know true results for a few months.
Hi there , i had this surgery 10-12 years ago , it took a good number of months and physio to recover but i have been pain free since . I was in sooo much pain before it so it was 100% worth it for me !! Best wishes 🌸🌸
Thanks for your reply. Was it your shoulder as well? Do you have systemic scleroderma? Did you get it in both shoulders and anywhere else? Pleased you had such a successful outcome.
