? Quell Pain Relief

Has anyone used Quell to elevate pain? It is pricey but if it works then I don’t care about price. Currently taking Prednisone which helps with the swelling now, somewhat but won’t last forever. My hands are so swollen it feels like rubber bands are wrapped around each finger tightly.

Hi there, I have had a look on the website and it just looks like another form of TENS machine which works by stimulating the sensory nerves around a pain site. The issue will be that if you have multiple joint pains you are going to need multiple quell machines to tackle them all. In addition it could actually lead to increased swelling in your joints if it is causing over stimulation to an already sensitive nervous system which usually happens with anyone with ongoing pain. I would say that if you have one specific area of persistent neuropathic pain, like ongoing back pain then it will be helpful. If you have multiple areas of inflammatory pain it is likely to be of very limited use. it is certainly not going to impact on your need for prednisolone which is there to tackle the swelling related to your disease process, not the pain itself.

Hope that helps
