Ok so I've just notice some of my nails have completely changed shape. Almost like a triangle. They have one long ridge running down the middle. They are quite smooth either side or the ridge. Any ideas ???

I've no idea, sorry! Do you think it's happened quite quickly?

Hi! Mine have changed too. It happens when the blood supply isn't good to the nails and they develop ridges and general weirdness of shape. All good fun - keep smiling sami13!

Mine always have ridges and flat bits. It's the intermittent blood supply I think someone said. Mine also tend to curl over the end of my index fingers too. Very weird

Hey

Mine have definalty changed shape and are thicker very strange usually my finger nails were a oval shape and quite brittle at times. My toes nails grow really slow but when they do they too are thicker...

Mine have changed too. They aren't triangular like yours - but my toenails have become very thick and shiny (looks like pearly cream nail polish!) and slow growing with horizontal ridges. My finger nails are really brittle and chip and flake constantly and during the winter II get these red halos at the top with splinter haemorrhages in the top area of my nail bed. The faces on some fingernails have changed shape and become asymmetrical.

Some of this is from Pompholyx eczema I know, some might be medications - but I think the rest is probably down to secondary Raynauds/ connective tissue disease. A dermatogist once told me that my nail changes definitely relate to my poor circulation/ Raynauds.

I have raynauds for 9 months and mine are a lot worse. 3 nails on my left foot are very thick and very brittle when you cut them. Went to a podiatrist last month and as soon as she seen my feet she said you are very bad with raynauds without me even saying anything. Thick brittle nails, red round nail beds, cold feet, red itchy rash she said were all signs and I have the lot. Unfortunately she said no treatment would work just wear thick socks and layer up, but that still doesn't work. My socks feel lovely and warm but my feet are still like blocks of ice. Anyone any tips?

I have had raynauds all my life but the lat year it's got a lot worse. Mine is part of systemic sclerosis. Do you have it on its own or do you think there could be other stuff going on ? I know what you mean people always say put on extra socks or gloves but they are cold from the inside. Also I can feel hot everywhere and still have freezing cold feet and hands It's impossible to control for me. There is a really good raynauds team at the royal Free in London. They gave me a list of vitamins to take that they say really do work I can if you want I can show you ?

Yes if you have a list of vitamins that would help or ease the Raynauds I'm willing to try them as I feel I'm getting worse very quick and nothing is working so far.
