Hi Lesley, I keep getting mouth ulcers and a sore mouth. I am being referred, to an oral medicine department after seeing a doctor on the maxifacial unit. So I suggest you try to be referred by your gp. Good luck.
Yes, same here....I use a daily rinse of Corsodyl mouthwash to help with the ulcers but my lips get very raw and sore on the inside...like I have been 'chewing' on them but I haven't. So I would say -in my opinion- that it may be connected to the Ssc.
I went to a new dentist last week. Cleaning my teeth, the hygienist asked, "You have sjogren's don't you ?" The dentist later gave me a lesson on the effects of sjogren's on teeth and mouth. Briefly, the sjogren's creates an enzyme (?) that mixes with any sugar or sugar substitute to damage the enamel. It also causes sore gums and inside mouth tissue. He instructed me in a 5-step (!!!) cleaning that involves specific OTC mouthwashes, water-pic, brushing twice, once with a prescribed toothpaste. This must be done every night ! I've also discovered an OTC mouthrinse, Colgate Paroxyl Sour Mouth Rinse. for whenever the sjogren's flares. Aren't we the lucky ones ?
