Yes Zenabb is correct it does seem like reflux, I had to raise up the top of my bed and can no longer eat meals after 8pm. However I also think you should have the hernia checked incase it has got bigger.
You need to raise the bed to put your whole body (essentially from the hip) at an angle as raising your head and neck won't prevent bile rising up your oesophagus. I personally have to eat before 6pm and only have something very light (salad) and avoid sugars entirely. I do understand I've woken up choking on bile before and it's horrible as well as waking up to a throat so raw I can't swallow all day! It helps to have water by the bed too
Hello, I have this problem also. I take Omeprazole twice daily and Ranitidine at night. I also have a spoonful of Gaviscon before bed and that seems to solve the problem. The hernia may complicate the matter, good that you have a GP app. Best of luck.
