Laser treatment

I just wondered if any one has tried laser treatment, as I am considering it for the facial telangiectasia I have. But I'm not really sure. Has anyone had good results from it?

Many thanks.

Hello, Yes I have had laser treatment for facial telangiectasia. They usually do about 6-10 at a time. It doesn't really hurt, just like a sharpe pin prick, may make you jump, and there is a slight burning smell. You are left with a black scab which falls off after about a week. It does remove them, but others appear later. I now prefer just to cover them up with a light foundation. It depends on how marked they are and how much they bother you. It may be worth having a session and see how you feel. Best of luck.

Thank you very much for telling me about your experience. When you say others appear later, were they new ones in different places, or did they reappear in the same place where they had been lasered away?

Yes, that's the question - how much they bother me. Sometimes they don't, and I can kind of 'look past them', but others times they do bother me a bit. And I don't wear very much makeup. But I have recently bought some 'Bare minerals ' foundation. Thanks for talking to me.

Hello again, they came back in different places, but I didn't have any scarring. I'd give it a go so you are not left wondering.

I had one dr. tell me it can pit the skin and they may come back, if it would work with good results I would do it too. If you try it please post. Good Luck!!

Thanks for talking to me. Yes, that's what I'm thinking - if it would work with good results I would do it! But everyone reacts differently to procedures, don't they ? If I do try it, I will post. Thank you.

I had some treatment for facial telangectasia. I now have a scar on my nose after the scab fell off and they came back in less than six months. I have told they would but I didn't think so soon and on top of that i have a pitted scar.

Thanks for telling me what you experienced, but I'm sorry to hear you were left with a scar. I was told they could come back too, but maybe in a few years, but obviously it just depends on the individual. It's such a shame there isn't a better treatment out there for us.

Hello, I had lazer treatment on my telangictasia , the worst one being on the bridge of my nose , unfortunately when the scab came off it has left me with pitting and the telangiectasia came back quickly so I wasnt impressed ! I never leave the house without my makeup on, I find estee lauder double wear foundation covers them adequately but I am very concious of how my face looks with loads of veins which are hard to diguise :o(

Regards

Linda

Was thinking about it too. Partly vanity but I also have them on my lips, inside my mouth and on my tongue and they feel quite raw sometimes, depending on what I eat. Asked my rheumatologist at my last visit and he said they would do nothing unless they bleed. Was thinking of going privately but if the advantages don't last long, perhaps it would be a waste of money. I don't know if they would do anything inside my mouth anyway. It sounds as if the results are very mixed. I would love to hear how you get on, if you decide to go ahead.

If it were cheaper I might have thought about doing it again but £200 and they came back after six months seems a little expensive.

Hello everyone. It's a while since I posted about this topic. I just couldn't decide, last year, whether or not to have the laser treatment, and then I got annoyed at myself for becoming more self conscious about the telangiectasia. Partly because I have always preferred the au natrel look, and I have never wanted to get caught up in worrying about my appearance. But slowly but surely, and cautiously, I looked into some make up. First I tried Bare Minerals complexion rescue, which is a tinted moisturiser and gives some coverage for the red bits. I also use Bare Minerals concealer, the matte one in a pot, and the Vichy Dermablend. But I mean I just use one product at a time. I alternate between them. This has helped. It only takes 5 mins each day and it has restored some confidence. I can always ask for the laser treatment in the future if I ever decide to. I found that you can go a Bare Minerals counter and ask them to try these products on you. Then you can decide whether they might help, and the assistants I spoke to were very kind and sensitive and didn't pressure me at all, to buy anything. I just wanted to pass my experience on, in case it helps anyone who is going through anything similar.
