Hi KC,

I had stem cell treatment last year. It was gruelling but 14 months on I'm starting to get my life back. I have acute cutaneous systemic sclerosis ( scleroderma). Are you under a good Rheumatologist specialising in your condition?

To be offered Stem cell treatment you have to be at a stage where everything else is not controlling the disease & it must not have affected your ograns too badly. You have to go through a series of tests which you need to pass to start.

What area do you live? I would be open to meet & chat if you want more information. I live in the North, near Manchester.

Speak to your consultant who will explain if this is an option for you. I'm a guinea pig in this area with a small number of other people bit I had to take the chance or I don't think I would be here now! The stem cell treatment has been very successful in MS.

Good luck! Xx

Thanks for your reply my husband is under Christopher Denton in royal free we live in London. He didn’t recommend it as there’s 1/5 death rate but people seem to be fine?

Thanks for offering to meet up.

I have found a hospital in India that seem to be ok, there’s a lady who had treatment there.

I have no organ problems as of yet.

I’ve had scleroderma for 15years have 3 children so want to be around for them

That's strange. I was told it was 10% chance of dying. Perhaps it depends on the individual. I was 64 at the tme & had been very fit all my life until this condition hit in early 2017 but it was SO aggressive. There are many people who praise Prof Denton. I have read lots of reports on the Internet post stem cell treatment ( mainly from the USA ) but it makes quite frightening reading) Good luck & let me know how you get on. Keep positive as this is your most powerful weapon. Xxx

I was 64 when I had the stem cell treatment. I'm now 65. My diagnosis only happened 2 years ago & was in its early stages though advanced so quickly. I started to feel ill early 2017 but by Nov 17, I was in a really bad way. I was referred to Sheffield Jan 18 where I had the tests & passed. They harvested my cells in March 18 & I started the treatment May 18. It all happened so fast. So sorry to hear your husband is so young. It's a terrible condition & to get this at such a young age is so so terrible. Please come back to me for any more information. As I said I was told I had a 10% chance of dying but I turned it to a positive in that I had a 90% chance of living. I couldn't go on as I was. To be fair I would of taken a 50% chance. I wish you all the luck in the world. Xx
