I developed Raynauds in the last year- since my Dad died, and I wonder if it was triggered by stress- I have been dealing with his estate and it has been very complicated and is on going... I just wondered whether anyone has tried one of the serotonin uptakers to treat their symptoms and whether it has helped?thanks
has anyone tried the meds to treat re... - Scleroderma & Ray...
has anyone tried the meds to treat reynauds?
Definitely triggered by stress.
Not sure about that as I was happily pregnant when mine started over 23 years ago. I'm really quite a laid back person. Not known for stress!
I've been taking Nifedipine for the last 2 years. it really helped at first but now it doesn't seem to have the same effect.
i was just a kiddie when i developed raynauds nearly 60 yrs ago...wasnt at all stressed had a very happy childhood, as i've got older i get more attacks, dont really have much stress tho.(.there's a few of us in the family with it )
I started raynauds in my late teens, followed by scleroderma. No particular stress at the time other than teenage angst (although i guess thats a very stressful time!)I am on Alodopine which does take the edge of. I tried the prozac but it helped my mental health more than my raynauds which could be seen as a bonus Stress does make my tiredness and raynauds worse
hi
have you checked the questions archive section of this site ? a lady posted the same question about fuoxetine, not so long ago.
Personally I didnt want to add anymore powerful chemcicals into my pharmaceutical mix of trying to control my scleroderma and raynauds symptoms.
Do the ssris help you ? x
Raynaud's is not triggered by stress but is affected by stress.
I am on nifedipine 10mg twice a day and this does help hope you have some success. I don't think stress helps. Deb
Thanks everyone for your comments. I will go and discuss it with my GP.
I always had very cold hands and feet since I was small. But wasn't diagnosed with Raynauds until about 30 years ago, at 27. I've been on Adalat (Nifedipine) ever since. In the winter I take 9/day but try to reduce it in warmer weather. I have heard stress can trigger it. Hope some of this helps. You're not alone which is always good to know, I think.
