Hi there I have used a professional one many years ago and I've tried a couple as I've had many troubles with sleep. I finally settled on a Fitbit Sense the first version as they're all pretty similar and I got it cheaper. I think it cost about £150 as the new one is £200 or 300. I think it was really good value and it does a lot plus you get 6 months of free premium service. It even measures my sleep apnoea or oxygen levels which was really important to me but it goes into ECG level and it's extremely good and I think reasonably accurate if not very accurate. It does show REM sleep every night and shows charts on that. It goes further than any device I've had and some of them that promise the world were really just dreadful. I tried one at £300 before this and I sent it back. I'm not sure if that's going to help you but I think that health is a holistic thing and knowing what your overall stats are as well could really help but if you're looking for REM monitoring and oxygen levels which is so important I would say this is something worth considering indeed.

Thanks handofhelp.. i dont have much confidence on diagnosis, as afew disorders have been mentioned. Sadly the equipment will only take one sample (one night). If it doesnt show up then technically i know nothing. I think my problem is stress related; but "who knows"??!!

This watch measures you throughout the night so perhaps it's worth having a go. But certainly the headspace thing will help if it's stress.

Please explain or link for Headspace.

If you've got a smartphone you can get an app if you search the app store for headspace. If you're a student it's only £8 a year otherwise it is a little bit more expensive but the sleepcasts are great. Just have a look on YouTube to try them out. I like the midnight launderette. It won't have any effect in the daytime you're better off doing it when you feel you're ready to go to sleep but you're not ready to go to sleep if you know what I mean. Hope it helps.

Do you act out during your sleep? If you have a REM sleep disorder you need to see your doctor.
