I Yell in My Sleep

I'm new to the community. Hello!

I have clinical anxiety and depression that have been controlled by medication for about 3 years. Significant added stressers and I guess the medication becoming less effective over time have caused me to backslide.

One of my anxiety symptoms is frequent nightmares. I have trouble falling asleep, trouble staying asleep, and when I do sleep I have horrible nightmares.

My boyfriend recently told me I yell in my sleep, assuming I was aware of it. I was not and I was a little horrified. Does anyone else do strange things in their sleep?

yes, I have Nightmares; every night (only and always during REM) ; not terrors (no acting outs); just anguish bad dreams, sometimes waking me up, truncating my REM stages.

main cause: minor chokings (say, 20%) during REM sleep atony.

It looks I am the way to work out the problem by adjusting my Bilevel CPAP pressures.

sleep disorder breathing (SDB), in my modest opinion, is the main cause of depression, panic, and so many other issues concerning sleep.

then, my suggestion for you: go for a polissonography, and or rent/buy a Bilevel CPAP, download free app OSCAR and carefully study your night sleep.

all the best and good luck

I have RLS, PLMD, parasomnia (acting out and yelling for ‘help’ quite often). Also have REM sleep disorder. My conclusion after many years of all this, is take the meds precisely, make sure any patches eg: Rotigotine are firmly adhered, keep calm and just do it ie: whatever needs to be done next. Don’t be frightened of it, don’t fight it. Inconvenient yes, energy zapping yes, but you can’t change it.
