Over thinking
I can definitely relate to what you're going through w lack of sleep!! It’s definitely not good for our health not be the rest we need. It is emotionally and mentally exhausting!!
Oh yes that's your subconscious ruminating there are issues you're trying to work out a lot of food is done subconsciously which is interrupting your your ability to let it go it's very frustrating to want to sleep and you end up wide awake I have a pattern of I sleep really good one night and I'm up really early the next night I have never quite figured it out I have chronic pain so it may be pain is waking me up maybe you have some pain issues in your body my best advice is to accept your body and what it's doing and not fight it more you fight your anxiety the more you fight your insomnia the more anxious you get it's a vicious cycle be sure to have something to do read a book draw or color I even get up and soak my feet I have what's called interrupted sleep activities that I can do sometimes it's simple as going through a file of papers or clearing out my phone whatever it is it has to be coming and not overwhelming I hope this helped
~When we become over tired we feel more brain scrambled - at least I do anyway.
I dedicate time each day/night to listen to YouTube Mindfulness Meditation.
It takes 21 days of repeating a positive healthy pattern to rewire the brain.
This is great therapy and helps still an active mind when we can't sleep.
I go off to sleep with the ear-plugs talking to me - its so soothing.
You might like to consider Meditation as an option to have in your tool box to use at a time like you experienced. Good luck.
I use earphones & listen to one of my favourite music types which is Trance/Dance. I love all sorts of music but calming music like some Pink Floyd etc' just doesn't work!
Then I use benzos which help, amitriptyline also and I used to use Trazadone, 2 of those used to put me to sleep within 20 minutes, where the strongest sleeping pills allowed on prescription didn't do a thing, GP gave me just 3 pills to try, when I went back and he asked how I got on, I said I haven't slept for 76 hours!
The more you worry the less likely you are of dropping off, you need try to listen to quiet music and forget (as hard as it is) everything & flow with the sounds.
Hi Sadgirl97, I experience similar issues at different times of the day as well. Mind working on over-time and stuck in a kind of loop of negative/troublesome/invasive thoughts. Having read some articles, I can suggest being more concsious of your thinking and disrupting your negative thought processes with positive ones. Basically training your mind or reprogramming it. It is a hard thing to do, but it can be achieved. Also meditation and breathing techniques to calm the mind down before you go to bed.
