I have suffered with anxiety for 40 years and been on countless meds, had counselling and CBT. For the past 5 years I have struggled along but so much is happening in my life at the moment I have given in and am on my second week of Escitalopram. I enjoy a glass of wine with my dinner which I find relaxed me but the minute I get into bed I panic as I know it's another night if no sleep. I am up and down for next few hours and then around 4 am I know that if so have something to eat I will eventually sleep. so hate this and I am exhausted beyond belief. I don't ever take daytime naps and I always have supper so I am not hungry when I go to bed.

Night Eating
Hi!
Geez, so sorry about your situation! I have restless legs syndrome, so I can empathize with the no sleep thing. I sleep a lot better now, but I went through a very long period back in 2015 where sleep eluded me because my symptoms were so bad. One of the ways I would spend my nights is by eating. I ate because I was stressed.
Have you heard of «The Sleep Solution» by W. Chris Winter, M.D.? I recommend this for you, as it covers a lot of the issues surrounding various sleep disorders.
Hi
I have suffered with insomnia in the past, along with anxiety and depression. I have never taken medication as I have always known they are not the solution. They may only help short term.
The problem we have is that we have all innocently been led to believe that our experience comes from what happens in the outside world, but actually we experience life from the inside out, basically, we live in a world of thought.
Looking for a solution from the outside in ( such as counselling, CBT, medication or one of the other 400+ types of therapy etc) will not end the problems for good.
