Zentiva Hydroxychlorquine prescription problems again!

This is becoming tiresome. I have been taking Zentiva brand of Hydroxychorquine since Plaquinel was no longer available, having initially been given Quinoric and been really unwell on it. September last year I had no option but to take Ipca as Zentiva still couldn’t be obtained by my pharmacy I managed 3 weeks before I gave in and pleaded with the pharmacy to get me Zentiva. They did and have been able to supply me with Zentiva until this month - they offered me Ipca but I’ve refused I have enough Zentiva until next Friday after which I don’t know what to do.

I know in September Healthunlocked Admin spoke to Zentiva etc. and we were given a Zentiva customer services telephone number for the pharmacist - mine weren’t interested and said they could only dispense what was sent. Today the pharmacist has told me again they order the Zentiva but the suppliers are only delivering Ipca…. I live in South Wales is anyone else having problems?

I'm in Wiltshire, I get zentiva from boots chemist no problem. I get my gp pharmacist to put zentiva brand only for hydroxy on my prescription sheet. No issues no problems. Don't take no for an answer or be fobbed off gps can do this for you. I think zentiva is more expensive than others so it's not the hydroxy of choice for GPS and pharmacists.

Thank you for your advice. I’m calmer today and am going to speak to the Pharmacist at our local Boots. My current Pharmacy is an independent I think something has changed in their management as they never used to be so difficult. My prescription does say Zentiva brand only but the Pharmacist argued that he could provide me with any Hydroxychlorquine!!!

Sounds like a difficult pharmacist, vote with your feet and go to another who's more compliant. It's your health, your body so don't take any nonsense. Even mention it to your GP Surgery that that pharmacy is refusing to fulfill your prescription in the proper manner. They have clout when it comes to what they prescribe, they may want to know that you're being given the runaround by this pharmacy as others may also have complained so it all mounts up.😀

I had to force pharmacist to contact alternative supplier and Zentiva then arrived few hours later. If they refuse I would change chemist.

Also noticed I'm getting cheaper brands of other things - not sure I want them either.

As this pharmacy is attached to a surgery, footfall is good and they probably think they can get away with it

I keep phone numbers of local pharmacies on my phone, so can always ring around..

Hoping it gets sorted.

Tell 'em what you think too.

That you don't want the side-effects caused by the filler in the 'cheaper brands'.

🙈🙉🙊😊
