I am being ivestigated for sjorgens, first test doesn't show any antibodies , waiting on next step. I had been bothered with dry eyes and must have tried every eye drop going. None of them worked and some made it worse. I just decided to stop them all and my eyes feel better and I am even sleeping better. When I was using the eye drops I was waking up several times per night
Could eye drops and gels have caused dry eyes to get worse and could they have caused my sleep problems
Thanks

Drops never helped my chronic dry eyes. Only cauterization of all four ducts finally helped. I have suspected Sjogren’s, yet am seronegative (negative for anti-SSA and anti-SSB) which isn’t uncommon in individuals with Sjogren’s. Also my lip biopsy was negative (also not uncommon).
I have classic clinical symptoms of Sjogren’s including chronic dry eye, dry mouth, ANA score of 1:320, parotid gland that swells and becomes painful occasionally, hoarse voice, and interstitial cystitis (believed to be associated with Sjogren’s).
I think so. My uncle, who was a pharmacist, became addicted to medicated nasal sprays. He finally quit them and said he felt so much better (and his temperament improved). I have the same sinus condition so I will use non-medicated and alternative treatments until I really need western medications. I think your body adapts to some drugs and it interferes with the natural processes. I am not a medical professional. But there are many non-medicated options for dry eyes like saline drops, warm, wet compresses, increasing humidity in your home, especially in winter, avoiding drafts, dusty wind and excessive air-conditioning, , homeopathic remedies, etc.
