Dental work anaesthesia issues?

Just had a tooth removed yesterday with local anaesthetic. I've had nausea and now diarrhea added to that for over a day. Feel quite rough. Anyone else had a reaction like that?

It's 4 days later so I hope you have resolved your issue. Extraction can result in dry socket and other things so you should always call your dentist with any problems. I also hope you aren't taking medication against bone loss. I don't think those reactions are due to SS. I've had many oral surgeries. Take care.

Hi its still painful which is more than I'm used to with dental surgery but I guess I'm just more sensitive now. I'm just looking into different dental anesthesia and seeing what the options are. Thanks

Hi dg70, thanks for your reply about eyes. I've only just joined this forum this summer too.

I had a problem with lidocaine (lignocaine) that is often used as a local anaesthetic. My dentist said they can use an alternative.

My issue was to do with it affecting my heart, and it was such a low dose. I thought I was having a heart attack and afterwards felt very shaky and cold.

I hope that you have been able to investigate this and found a reason for what happened.

Thanks. I'm hoping I don't need anything done for a while but it took several weeks to heal from the extraction. My gums all swelled up and I could only eat soft food. First time that's happened. I want to hold on the teeth I have left so being really careful, floss, dental brushes, brushing several times a day, dry mouth tablets. It's such a palaver but better than false teeth😵😆

I know what you mean.

I had a dental appointment recently just to check things in relation to dry mouth and autoimmune disease.

I have a Philips sonicare water flosser that I use sometimes when feeling really tired instead of floss. I often go round my back teeth a second time using a small (child's) toothbrush that is easier to clean gum line with.

I had quite a conversation with my rheumatologist regarding lidocaine ...thankfully not doing any biopsy as yet .

Good idea a small brush. I've got zylomelts which i stick one in my mouth before sleep which keeps my mouth moister for some of the night. They're not cheap though. I'm paranoid about losing more teeth so trying to keep my mouth moist without sucking sweets. ☺ Its hard overnight though. Drink lots of water and you end up on the loo more. All good fun!
