Hi, I have no idea if this remedy will help any of you but I use it every day as dry mouth also bothers me.

It is called OraMD which is a replacement for a toothpaste. It contains peppermint oil, spearmint oil and almond oil. I brush my teeth and then a drop or two on my tongue and it freshens up my whole mouth and even cleans my nostrils so helps there to. Your mouth just feels so fresh and explosive, no dry mouth at all. Website OraMD.com.au

Hope this can be of some help. Xxx

I am on something called Salagen in the UK (pilocarpine hydrochloride). This makes you produce more saliva in your mouth - I have been on it since August and it is working well for me. You do have to take it regularly though to get it to work properly.

Hope this might be an idea for you to consider and discuss with your doctor.

Hi there, I use a product called Xylimelts, they are from the US but unfortunately they don't post here, I have to order them through a site in the UK mouthulcers.co.uk/ They are very good and the order arrives very quickly. The Xylimelts are time release discs that just sit on your gum and slowly release and are great at night. Sometimes I wake and just put another into my mouth and go back to sleep. The mouth ulcer shop also has lots of other dry mouth solutions. If you google Xylimelts you can read all about them.

Cheers

Thanks very much for this - I will use this co in future. Re shipping from USA, Pharmafrag do; it works out the same $, but take a good 6 weeks to arrive.

Hi there, not sure why you can't find them in Australia ? All you do is google this "xylimelts in Australia", it all comes up then. You would be paying a fortune getting them elsewhere.

There is a lot of suppliers in Australia and some chemists online. Just google it in Australia.

Thank you. I posted this question 4 years ago. And have since seen a good rheumatologist who prescribed a mouth spray of artificial saliver that works very well, but I will l bear in mind what you say. Good luck in the future Robynjf.

I usually manage during the night with sips of ribena but if I have to go for a while during the day without sipping I use a product called Biotene which is a sort of gel. I'm not sure how long it would last overnight but you could try it, it doesn't taste too bad either.

Thank you all so much for your replies, I am very grateful, and am certainly going to try all of this out, to see what suits me.

Unfortunately my GP does not seem to have a lot of knowledge of dry mouth, he has prescribed drops and ointment for my eyes, but when I asked him about my dry mouth, he said there is nothing he can prescribe.

I am seeing a Rheumatologist soon, I hope, so perhaps I will get more help then, I am also having to empty my bladder a lot, so anything that does not include constant drinking of water is very welcome to me!

Thank you again for taking the time to reply to me, this is all very new, I have only been having symptoms in the last 4 months, and am learning slowly how to help myself, and am so very glad to have found this site!

Have you had a test for " Sicca Syndrome". I nearly went mad with my eyes and mouth and throat. My GP sent me for a Nuclear Scan, and found that only 2 saliva glands were still working.

That Centre is the Newcastle Nuclear Medical Images or Centre. You need to get, No More tears, or the Chemists Suggestion, A nasal Gel, (Fess Nasal Gel), because your nose also wil start to feal dry or crusty and you will maken sores in your nose if not treated. For your mouth, sugarless chewing gum , is best. While you chew you do make saliva. I do hope this helps.

I have found that 3 Evening Primrose Oil capsules per day make an amazing difference.

I keep a tube of Biotene gel by my bedside and smear it around my gums and teeth at bedtime. It really helps. I get mine prescribed, but you can get it over the counter or on the net too.

Dry mouth is a problem for your teeth, so do tell your dentist about it. Mine has been a great help.

Thanks Phoebe,

I will get some myself as my GP insists there is nothing he can prescribe for this, and I have told my dentist and also my optician, who have both been really helpful

Best wishes, Cazx

I use Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste every morning and evening, and along side my bed I keep Biotene mouth gel and spray for when I wake up through the night snoring with a dry mouth and throat. I find the spray less easier to use through the night as I keep the lid off and just reach for it, spray it in my mouth and go back to sleep...I hope this helps

that should say the spray is MUCH EASIER...lol

Hi GCDEE,

Thanks for that, I will try to locate some, my dentist did prescribe the Gel, but the Pharmacist said they could not get any in, but that was a while ago.

I will try the internet if not,

Best wishes
