Hi everyone! I am sorry that I have been quite late in responding to some of your posts and chat messages. I just want everyone to know that I am here, but not as often as I was because I am now a full-time caregiver to my husband. He is quite ill, and so my ability to respond rapidly has become very difficult. I will be here as often as I can be.

You are all very kind and a supportive group, and I hope that you will respond to posts and help others as you have for the past couple of years. Please provide suggestions, ideas, resources, and support to others!

I hope your husband is able to get a little healthier for both of your sakes. Please make sure that you have some help from others that allows you some reprieve on a somewhat regular basis. The caregivers need support whether that help comes from family or health plans like Medicaid or Medicare. As we all get older we will need some type of help from others like you are doing as your husbands main or only caregiver. Have you ever heard of Respie Care? This service is not free, nothing is ever free. However your husbands healthcare provider should know of or be able to find out about Respite Care. As a caregiver you need to make sure that you don’t get burned out. This is the very reason I’m mentioning Respite Care to you. Your husband is fortunate to have you!

Thank you! I have narrowed down my search to an organization near us that we have heard good things about. Hope to get a meeting soon and get things started. I realize I cannot take care of him if I don't take care of me, too!
