Abdominal Pain and Sickle Cell crisis.

I recently had an episode of abdominal pain shortly after taking Co-codamol for pain relief . Over night I developed abdominal pain which led to nausea and vomiting. I later checked myself into A&E and was made to understand this could be an SCD crisis. I had taken co-codamol in the past with no problems hence I don't think this was a side effect.

My question is Has anyone had this experience. How did you manage it.

I am 50 years old with SC genotype, I believe SCD is just a way of life and it all depends on personal management and self belief.

Thanks.

Yes,sickle cell disease is a devastating illness! Trusting In God and taking care of your body are a great part of living your life! The "Why me attitude doesn't really help!

Growing up I had a lot of pain in my abdominal area I was later told it was sickle pain. I thought it could only happen in the bone area. Also I have been taking dihydrocodine for years but earlier this year I started having very bad reaction to it. keep well and take care.
