If you haven't had any symptoms before now at your age don't presume automatically it's SCT go and get a full check up. They are a few conditions and deficiencies that lead to back and joint pain.

Back pain may not be attributed to Sickle Cell Trait. It could be Scoliosis.perhaps you should get it checked out by a physician.

Increase your hydration. Noni juice and green herb may give some relief. Try anti inflammatory meds but if all that fails you may need IV fluids and pain medication. Praying for your healing!!!

Also is your urination normal? You need to have a urination. There is a rare form of cancer that almost only happens in Trait and kills very quickly. It can present with flank pain. It sounds to me that you are saying you have sudden onset of bad back pain that doesn't seem related to anything else. Am I hearing you? If so, please get checked to make sure your kidneys are ok. Scoliosis would not start hurting all of a sudden at age 38. But Trait gets worse as you get older so becareful. Take care

my daughter is now 12 and have joint pains for as long as she can remember and i'm certain her having the sickle cell trait is related.
