Supplement during chemotherapy

I have stage 4b serous endometrial cancer and am looking for supplements that will complement my soon start chemo therapy regime - placitaxel + carboplatin + keytruda. My oncologist has recommended B6 and l-glutamine to fend off neuropathy and cautioned against tumeric. Unfortunately, the integrative oncologist who was close has left the state and I have not found a trustworthy Naturopath yet.

Any input is appreciated:)

Hi,

I am a 10-year survivor of endometrial cancer, Stage 1A serous and was treated with chemo and brachytherapy. I had a hysterectomy, removal of tubes and ovaries, plus multiple lymph nodes. I did have some neuropathy in my feet, but fortunately it was manageable.

While I have no experience with supplements, on this site, we can only share our individual experiences and are unable to provide medical advice. It's unfortunate that you have not found another naturopath, but since you are about to start chemo and Keytruda, I would suggest that you discuss the use of supplements with your treatment team. They are the experts and the best source of information on the use of supplements during cancer treatment.

Wishing you all the best!

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing

I would also refer you to our SHARE Uterine Cancer Support Group which is a group of women who are either newly diagnosed or in treatment. We share experiences and provide much needed support.

Hi. Blessings to you. I had stage3c serous endometrial and I’ve been getting healthier, but it’s tough on the body with all the changes. So I also started some supplements. The two brands I like are True Botanical and Mary Ruth’s. They are both 3rd party tested with high standards. I found they’re cheaper on their own websites rather than Amazon for example. Not cheap by any means but helping so I make sacrifices elsewhere. I wish you well.

Hello - very sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but please do take comfort in the fact that the care you're slated to receive is absolutely state-of-the-science and evidence-based. I was Stage 3C endometrioid endometrial, and was on 6 cycles of carbo-taxol first, and then Keytruda as maintenance therapy. My care team recommended the L-Glutamine & B6 supplements and I bought the Whole Foods store brand--very reliable/trustworthy supply chain, etc. Along the way, I did see a naturopath for some other side effects and he was very happy to hear that my "conventional" practitioners had recommended L-G + B6. Best to you and a virtual hug.

Not what you're looking for?
