Cervical cancer ? Or cervical ectropion

For the last 3 months I’ve been having pain during sex and discharge that stains my underwear yellow. It’s thin discharge, not thick etc . I’m on the contraceptive pill and starting bleeding on the weekend and I am still a abit now. I saw a gynaecologist about 2 months ago about pelvic pain , needing a wee a lot and pain during sex . He looked at my cervix and said it looked sore and that it looked like cervical ecropion. I’m still experience pain during sex and now have discharge and blood. Saw a GP today who looked an said she agreed with the gyno. My concern is that cervical cancer has almost identical symptoms and she said I’m too young for a smear as I’m only 23. I can’t help but think of the worse

I’m so sorry you are experiencing these scary symptoms. You are very young, but hopefully the doctors are following up with some tests that will help with a final diagnosis. Don’t give up. You know your body better than anyone, so keep advocating for yourself until you get resolution. Hopefully you have a support system of family or friends that can help you too. Please keep us posted. It’s normal to always think the worst, but you have youth on your side. One step at a time. You’ve got this. ❤️

You’re never “too young” for anything. You should have a Pap smear and HPV test at minimum. Also cultures of your cervix, which might show a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics. A cervical biopsy wouldn’t be out of line. Don’t let the docs drop the ball!
