If you trust your gne-onc then follow their advise. There are great chemo meds today. Also, it depends on where the nodes are. I had radiation treatments for a groinal malignant node. Let us know what your next step is. Keep up the fight!
I took my 1st chemo infusion Dec 12. carbo/taxotere also had this when originally diagnosed after surgery 2 years ago. The plan is to do 3 infusions and re-scan and see how I am responding and adjust drugs if needed. I had originally plan to go for a second opinion at MD Anderson with Doctor Amir Jazaeri before starting chemo. I had all my scan and records sent. Plan to go Dec 17 the doctor's nuse called me about some of my records. I took the opportunity to ask some questions. With the holidays coming would I be able to see the doctor and then get chemo before the hoildays and she told be it would be after the New Year. I could not wait so I canceled and my sweet doctor Kerri Bevis was able to get me started on chemo the 12 at UAB. Jazaeri nurse suggested a good time to reschedule appointment with Jazaeri would be after the 3rd infusion and after the scan. My question is with my treatment plan would it be the same or would it be something different would it be better? should I plan to go for the 2nd opinion? I did well before on carbo/taxotere and it worked for 2 years. Also Bevis plans for me to go on maintenance after treatment. When I first was diagnosed 2017 I went to MD Anderson after surgery before treatment and he agreed with exactly with my Doctor at UAB. A little confused
Another option is to talk with the folks at the Clearity Foundation for ideas. clearityfoundation.org. Personally I like having any and all ideas so second opinions are certainly of value in my book. The drawback is if you speak with multiple doctors and they each have very different opinions you have to have the fortitude to sort through in your own mind what you think is best for you and your specific goals and situation. And armed with that information know that you are making the best decision with the information that is available and don’t second guess yourself. I know that’s a lot easier said than done.
Hi I too was diagnosed with OC clear cell stage 1c3 in Nov 2015. It recurred in Sept 2019. I am in the UK and am under a leading international oncology researcher in OC. He has recommended a Phase 2 immunotherapy trial using Pembrolizumab - it's the PEACOCC trial. I haven't started it yet as they need to have a conclusive biopsy before I start treatment and my tumours are quite small and rather inaccessible (in the lungs and para-aortic lymph nodes). (I have had 2 CT-guided biopsies which have been inconclusive.) I shall have another scan on 3 Jan and an MDT review on 7 Jan. Have taken this opportunity to travel abroad to do a meditation retreat to help me manage this situation psychologically better. Wishing you all the very best with your journey, Sundra
