just had the preliminary bloodwork for Truqap and now concerned the doctor won’t let me take it because it appears my numbers indicate prediabetes. Does anyone know if this is a disqualifier?

Prediabetic and Truqap

lots of ways to manage prediabetes and diabetes. I would not let them say no to this treatment line because of that!
I hope not. Just another stresser this weekend before hearing from the doctor.
might the meds you’re on now be affecting your blood glucose levels ie not a true indicator.
I got diabetes level high glucose on Everolimus and was put on Metformin. I believe there are other drugs as well- Jardiance? I believe this is a known side effect of Piqray and Truqap and thet will just medicate the diabetes, not take you off the meds x
Hi! I was A1C 6.4 before Truqap. After being on it 3 weeks it made my glucose shot way up, my doc’s kept me on Truqap BUT made a consultation with the endocrinologist who put me on a glucose lowering pill Tragenta every day that I take Truqap. I was then taken off of Truqap because my kidney numbers were bad so they wanted me to rest it and five days after resting it my glucose numbers were normal again, as well as my kidney numbers. So Truqap definetly raise my glucose and screwed around with my kidney function. So an answer to your question I do not believe that just because you can’t take this worth a shot since we’re all different.
Thanks for the input. What are you using now?
if your Dr insists on his opinion, maybe it’s worth getting a second opinion? Also discuss with him/her whether adjusting your diet might help? (When I started Piqray, my onco told me to minimize glucose consumption as much as possible)
Be very aware that side effect of both metformin and Truqap is diarrhea. Ask for a newer drug.
hello! Don’t stress about the diabetes…that is a very common side effect from Truqap or Piqray …I had been fairly normal for my age and weight but immediately after starting Piqray I saw the numbers climb. After a couple of weeks, I was put on metformin…first one a day and then two a day with biggest meals. It’s better to start with one and then build up the tolerance. Extended release is a better option, I hope you can tolerate the metformin…it is a bonafide cancer med..not just for diabetes so it works well for us.
Best wishes…
