Hi at all,

I am Maria, 51 years,I have ER+PR+ MBC, diagnosed de novo metastatic in May 2021 with two lumps in my left breast, lymphatic nodes and multiple metastatic spots in the skeleton. It is a lobular cancer, I got a left side mastectomy (it turned out to be metastatic shortly after the surgery), radiation therapy and I am doing well on Trenantone, Letrozol, Ibrance 75 two weeks on, two weeks off (can only tolerate this dosis because of neutropenia) und Xgeva. Apart from the neutropenia no side affects so far, only sometimes joint aches I think from the Letrozol.

I could live a nearly normal life the last years, see my elder son graduate from school, was able to travel and I doing sports. I had more limitations from retropatellar arthrosis than from the cancer, had to switch from running and playing tennis to cycling and going to the gym.

Every 6 month I get a whole body CT scan and 1x/year a szintigraphy of the sceleton. So far it was stable, the bone lesions not active any more and getting more and more sclerotic. However, I had my last CT scan last week and got a call from the doctor, that there´s a node in my thyroid gland...have to go now to the ENT doc for a check. I am really scared that it could be cancer again...

Thank you for listening

Try not to go to worst case. I’ve got 3 nodes on my thyroid. The doctor is watching it, but she said even if they are cancerous, it grows so slowly in the thyroid that she is the last oncologist on the list when someone has another cancer. I’ve got lobular and ductal. Hopefully you’ll be okay!

Hi Maria.

Welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your stress. Try to stay positive...as Nocillo has said.

I've had multiple nodes flare up around my thyroid, normally ultra sounds have shown them to be benign cysts that fill up and look big for a while but then drain on their own and are unnoticeable. It's really common, especially at around 50yrs old with perimenopause/menopause.

I'm 53 now...had an olive size lump pop up last month....its gone down now....was told by an endocrinologist that once you have a cyst (often from birth) they never fully disappear...the sack remains and can fill at times of stress, inflammation or low immunity.

Wishing you all the best

Zoe

They discovered cancer in my thyroid during an early PET/CT. I had surgery to remove the cancer on the right side with a partial thyroidectomy. Literally had the surgery at 9 and by 11, I was on the phone with my office.

A wonderful person on this board had told me she had had it...no worries. And somehow I do not even require drugs for the removal. The doctor told me that thyroid cancer is often found in many people only after they pass away from something else. And three weeks after the surgery I did not even have a visible scar. Happy to answer any questions you have.

So sorry you had to find this forum. Not because the ladies are great and provide much wisdom but due to the reason. When I was first diagnosed my husband had a lot of labs done (outside the Drs request) to see how efficient my body was. Through that blood work I found out I was extremely deficient in Vitamin D, Cortisol and Magnesium was off, fasting glucose was a little high along with some other blood work metrics. The goal is to have my body's immune system to become as efficient at possible (although I am always dealing with a low WBC due to Verzeno) and become metabolically healthy. I have read and discussed with my current Onc that everybody has cancer cells in their body but their immune system can recognize those cells and kill them before they become a problem. Again sorry you are here but please feel free to lean on this group for questions, wisdom or just to rant. God Bless!

Hello Maria. Your story sounds similar to mine. Also lobular cancer. I will hope your visit goes well. I also have a node in my thyroid, but whatever it is has been stable for 2.5 yrs.

Hello Ara...this is a journey of many ups and downs...but for many it will be a very long journey. Stay positive, eat well, read up about this disease, and trust in your doctors even if it means getting a second opinion. Best wishes. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
