Nooooooo official fever for everyone is something like 100.4. Please don’t make the decision without your doc.

now I am waiting for an on call nurse to get back to me. I have a prescription for Paxlovid but there are some interactions with Kisqali and we plan to fly home to California from NY tomorrow.

Do you have COVID? Your first post didn’t indicate that.

Turns out I have Covid with fever, etc. my doctor was on call and said to take Paxlovid and stop Kisqali. All the concerns were because I am a n NY on a visit and live in California.

I got Covid in Portugal … my one and only Covid. I also took Paxlovid (dropped Piqray) and I think it really helped. Hope you get well soon!

Please don't bother your doctor, or stop cancer treatment, because you have "a head cold and a little fever"! Since we are the same age, I don't want you to be seen as developing senility.

Actually the Paxlovid is not good with Kisqali so that was my concern. We were planning on a road trip with lots of little stops to see the Fall leaves. But it feel pretty uncomfortable and my husband also worries he might get it. Last time we had Covid was in Norway after an Iceland cruise. This trip was to visit relatives and enjoy Autumn. Oh well.

According to the Internet, "While there may be some benefit to taking Paxlovid for patients who are at high risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19 (including those who are immunocompromised and older adults), that may not be true for patients who are not considered high risk, a new study suggests. Jul 8, 2024"

I think it is important at our stage of life to ensure that we keep enjoying the time we have left. Do visit relatives, and appreciate autumn leaves. Wear a mask if you are afraid of germs.

However, since you now know you have Covid-19, perhaps your relatives won't want you to visit. Let them make the decision?

The issue is that my husband is so anxious .

Hmmm, my guess is that he'll likely make the decision for both of you. In that case, he should have the discussion with the relatives so that they know why you may not visit (given his concern).

Wait, you have Covid and you’re planning on getting on a plane full of people? Was that recommended by your MD? You will be exposing others that may well be as medically compromised, or more so, than you are. Please rethink and get further medical advice before you follow through with that plan.

Wishing you well and a fast recovery!

Yes, it wasn't clear you have Covid at first. You should pause Kisqali and take Paxlovid, since that is medically recommended. Paxlovid is very effective at reducing the severity and duration of Covid -- but it has to be taken immediately on confirmation of infection.

Also, to protect others, you and your husband should hole up somewhere, a motel (separate rooms to protect him?) or one of many cabins available for rent on the fall leaf route, in upstate NY, New Hampshire, Vermont... Road trip is better than flying.

I wouldn't worry. I had COVID on Holiday and I emailed my nurse. She said no need to stop the pills and to rest if I was tired. I was in Canada and I live in the UK. I managed to keep going, just avoiding other people and eating outside away from anyone.

I took Tylenol which made me feel dreadful so I stopped after 24 hrs.
