Hi Zebra,
First, let me mention that I don't -- to my knowledge -- have neck mets. I have widespread bone mets, e.g. every vertebra, but there is no tumor specifically in my neck that's been highlighted to me....
But, gosh, i'm sorry that you're experiencing the reflux, too! I understand that can be really challenging! I have a friend who has severe reflux -- unrelated to cancer treatment -- and we often comment on how she feels worse than I do!
I don't see reflux as a specific side-effect of ibrance, but I do see other digestive issues, e.g. nausea and diarrhea....Perhaps your reflux is simply too uncommon to make the list, or maybe it's unrelated to treatment?
Either way, I hope you are able to find some relief, and i also hope that you hear from someone with the neck mets...are you saying that these are causing you specific issues?

Hello, thank you for you reply. I had acid reflux before, but I was ok until I start ibrance first cycle I was ok but in second cycle I was miserable. I had sore throats and laryngitis and lost my voice completely. Now I am back talking Zantac again. Still feel sore and dry throat. I hope I goes away soon.
I have bone Mets to my neck. I have not heard of Ibrance causing acid reflux. It is possible that the stress revolving around your cancer could be causing tummy problems.

Hi Sarcie, it is possible! Do you were collars? It is bothering me too much, I am wearing it for almost 4 months . I don’t know, ever I am going to get rid of it? I can’t drive and I am totally dependent on my husband. This cancer sucks!

No. I don’t wear a collar. I had radiation on my neck and it helped a lot although it was 7 weeks of excruciating mouth and throat sores. I have had injections in my occipital nerve to also help with the pain. Maybe your doctor could try something to help the pain.
Hi, Zebra2018! I'm so sorry to hear about your neck mets. I do not have mets in that area, but I do have acid reflux and am taking Ibrance. However, I can't remember whether I had this problem before I began the Ibrance or not. In my case, I would like to see what would happen if I lost a few pounds, as I think it might be weight related. I would be curious to know if you learn more about a connection between Ibrance and acid reflux, as I had not even considered this possibility.

Hi Dianne, yes when I started ibrance my Onc told me take something for heartburn however I totally forgot it.
Hello Zebra, I know what its like to suffer from reflux. I have been on Ibrance for 5 cycles now and yes I did suffer with reflux for 2-3 cycles in the beginning. I still carry a pepcid chew for emergencies. It has since gone away but every now and again I get a little reflux when I go to long in between meals.
Is you neck nets on the bone , skin orclymph nodes? I have nets in my neck cervical discs. I am only on my first cycle and had reflux. I started Zantac and it resolved. Just can’t take at the same time so I take ibrance in the morning and Zantac at night. Best of luck to you
Hello and thank you for your reply. My cancer is on c4 vertebrae fracture along with c3, c5 and c6 and some tissue involvement. Last MRI says it is stable. Why you can’t take them at the same time? Nobody told me that! Do you were collar?
Hi. I I don’t wear a collar but I have no fracture all my Mets are small. Taking a (proton pump inhibitors) like Zantac at the same time as sone cdk inhibitors like ibrance can affect absorption. I have not found a direct correlation to ibrance but don’t want to chance risking absorption so easier and safe to take it later in the day. I take a Zantac everyday and it stopped the acid reflex. I have acid reflux already and the Ibrance makes it worse. My doc gave me protonix for the reflux and lactaid because there is lactose in the Ibrance. They both help!
Hi,
I actually lost my voice while on ibrance. I went to the ENT and he said it was probably from acid reflux. He suggested omeprazole but told me to talk to my ONC. I do not normally have acid reflux, but ibrance upsets my stomach. My ONC ordered the omeprazole (prilosec) and it solved the problem.

Fill a spirts bottle with pellegrino water and 2 tlbs of good quality balsamic vinegar and drink! Stops reflux and you will grow to love the taste!! I use a swell bottle and out a bit of shaved ice in as well, evennufcreflux has begun it stops it. I buy cases of glass bottled pellegino!

Even my daughters and husband, do this now! It really works. Keepnin kind, therevis a dramatic difference in taste and quality of balsamic but fir me it’s worth it, and look for onecthat does not have Carmel added

Not funny to me--I do as well!! Works well but there is something about the pelligrino water, not other sparkling--because it is more sulfur that is very helpful--more so than just apple cider vinegar with mother. I just don't want to spoil the pelligrino with the apple cider vinegar so I do my cider vinegar with plain water. The other looks like a coke at a party and for me is more enjoyable.

All balsamic vinegars have distinctly different flavors. So you may have to experiment to find one you actually like
I had a severe GERD Due to the reflux I was having Shortness of breath, sore throat and I went to see my primary doctor I had chest X-ray nebulazation saw ENT and told me that I had GERD. They ordered CT too and I was diagnosed with MBC to my bones
I was in shocked I couldn’t believe it. On 2014 I had Lobular breast cancer stage 2B I got radiation on my chest 33 sessions, radiation damaged my lung and got lung fibrosis, GERD is related to lung fibrosis
When my GERD was severe I changed my diet avoid all food like chocolate, coffee citrus tomatoes onions, my dinner was early like 6pm I bought GERD pillow so I sleep with my head up took Zantac and got still have to be careful because it can come back
I had bonemets and tumors up and down my spine including my neck.
I did have acid reflux in the beginning but not now.
I did have problems in my throat and chest due to the radiation. Are you getting radiation treatments?
Yes to neck, checking radiation treatment this week. Prayers.
I take an antacid with the Ibrance.. it will upset my stomach if I don’t. I can’t eat yogurt or milk with Ibrance, it curdles in my stomach.

Yes. My oncology pharmacist directed me to do this. At first I took two, but I’ve been on this for 15 months and now only need one.

GERD/reflux were present prior to Ibrance. noticed Ibrance might be a trigger, as i do not ingest dairy. when 'it' flares, typically have a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda in it. will begin a digestive enzyme with the next round of Ibrance, in March.
I think it is better than mbc on bones. Please keep me posted of your progress.
