I know I posted this earlier, however, when I went back to read it again, not there. Maybe I messed up but at any rate, I am posting again because this has the most exhaustive info I have seen on ibrance. I wanted to know specifically about the shelf life, etc. and that's how I came upon this. You can read about the shelf life and special handling towards the tail-end of the article. More info on Ibrance than I have ever seen!
Hi there
I’ve just read this interesting information..some of which I was aware of
One thing that jumped out at me was a drug interaction between Ibrance and Metformin...the latter is one of the drugs that Jane Mclelland recommends in her book and the Care oncology clinics prescribe...I’m seriously intending to go to the COC clinic in London but this has shaken me up a bit...do these clinics actually keep up to date?
I want to help myself with off label drugs but not at the expense of messing up my cancer meds from my oncologist
What do you ladies think?

Thank you! I'm glad you mentioned that because I take metformin and missed seeing that part ... there is so much there! What about them saying no special storage needs for the medicine when I've heard some say it has to be shipped in a cool container? God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen! <3
There’s no special way to store them...sometimes these rumours spread just from hearsay...I just keep mine with my other stuff

In the winter mine is shipped to me in a normal package. In the summer it comes with a cold pack but also says not to worry if the cold pack is melted. I think they just don’t want it to get too unbearably hot during summer shipping. I think it comes from somewhere in the southern states of the US. I store it in my cupboard.
I read and read but could not find anything about metformin and ibrance, can you be so kind as to tell me exactly where that is? Thank you! <3
It mentions in vitro study so that would be pregnant women. Metformin is a diabetic drug so they may be checking how the two interact. Best to ask a doctor.
yeppers!
Thanks for posting this. Even though it is difficult to read, this is the kind of information that all drugs should have. Beware of drugs that say they can help but only post glowing reports but not the down to earth nitty gritty of how it was studied and what interacts with it and who was studied.
Right! I have the right to know what I'm swallowing! You're welcome, I learned some things. One thing I found a bit unsettling was where it says 'no dose adjustment necessary if over 65', but I'm sure i misunderstood, one would hope so anyway. I'm over 65 and if it makes me ill you had better adjust my dose. I don't like what my onc already said, and I haven't even started taking ibrance yet. He said he doesn't do the 75 mg dose, well this is where I would get an attitude if I needed that because it should be the patient's choice I feel, it's our lives on the line. peace and God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen!
I think it means that being over 65 doesn’t mean that you should automatically start at a lower or higher dose or some other adjustment for age. I had to smile at that because it called those patients elderly. No way am I elderly! I just happen to be 71, but elderly I’m not!
As far as your oncologist not using 75 mg., that’s a shame. I started at 125 but dropped twice to 75 because of low neutrophils. Despite that, my numerous bone mets as well as two spots under my arm totally disappeared. It works even at the lower dosage.
Yes I am...get my scan results Wednesday..eek!.. then will decide...I’ve already had copies of my records and send them to COC so just need to let them have a look at the latest ones...tricky decision...however if this stuff works and doesn’t interfere with what I’m taking then I’ll probably do it
There are studies being done on metformin now and I haven’t time for years of trials to be done...feel like time is running out for me...

ty!
Hi Sandra
Thanks for that...my last 2 scans have been at two month intervals due to my tumour markers going up so she’s being extra cautious but it just means I have more anxiety..at least I’m getting monitored
Yes I do remember we were diagnosed around the same time with similar diagnosis
I’ll keep you informed if I go to that centre in London
All the best
