My HB and Platelets have been bad for a while. Mainly because I haven' eaten anything. I am now eating again and feel much better (I had other reasons), but she has ordered me back for new blood tests and wants me to change to Xeloda. I want a chance to get my appetite back up and eating normally before such a major change. Anyone else?

cancer care should be a partnership between you and your cancer team and you have the right to ask for clarity about why they are proposing this change given your preference to wait a bit longer to see if you can get the hb/platelets back up again without changing. And you can insist on deferring and have someone with you to advocate your preference but maybe best done with full understanding of why they suggest this change. If I look back at my blood results over 3 years on palbo, letrazole etc my platelets and other blood count data have varied widely - way out of range at times - but came back up without any major change. So I’m of the view that your gut instinct is valuable and leaving things a while can sometimes be an option but you need more info from docs to know why your preference might not be appropriate in order to make an informed decision.
I had very horrible reactions to Xeloda. I was miserable. Ibrance was the BEST as far as I’m concerned. Ask you doctor why you must be taken off Ibrance first. Ibrance with fulvestrant was perfect with very little side effects. Hugs and love to you!! 🩷

Thank you. New tests today - very bad. Will get 2xblood tomorrow and they will try to get my CT-scan earlier - then decide. Appreciate your reply. Sad. Loved my Ibrance.
At 78, I'm much older than you. However, I read cancer research, and, currently, there seems to be positive results for ribociclib (trade name Kisqali), across a wide age range. I have taken ribociclib with letrozole since 2019, and it has kept my many mets (bones, spleen, lymph, skin) in the normal range. Side effects are mostly fatigue- related.
