I am on Enhertu infusions and recently went for a routine checkup at my opthalmologist's appointment.I had permanent lenses put in while still on my 40's and have never even needed glasses until this year.I am now 77.
When the tech tested me with the chart I could not even clearly read the TOP row of letters with my left eye.
The doctor took some special eye pictures and found everything to be normal. He advised me to go home and use Refresh Eye lubricant four times a day and come back in three weeks.
I had an appointment with my oncologist and she ordered an MRI when I explained what had happened.
SO MY QUESTION IS: has anyone on this forum had any such eye problems?.
I have not yet been to get the MRI but it is scheduled.

Hi, sorry to hear of your eyesight problems. I'm on Enhertu but have not experienced any eye problems. Your oncologist is doing the right thing in trying to rule out anything that may be causing pressure in this area that can't be seen on eye tests.
I hope you don't have to wait for the MRI results for too long. We all know how time can drag while we're waiting for results.
Please do send an update when you know. In the meantime, enjoy the long weekend.
I'm on Ibrance and my eyesight has deteriorated rapidly. The optician said the speed of the deterioration indicates it's the cancer meds. I'm going to the opticians next week with a view to being referred for a cataract operation. I also get watery eyes. I use a mist for dry eyes. I find the situation frustrating, but as it's the only symptom I will stick with Ibrance. A scan has not been suggested. I wish you well dealing with this situation. Jo x
Hi I am also on Ibrance and , my optician has told me , my eye sight has also deteriorated, and my eyes water , I can’t seem to focus like I used to , I have got used to it now , but it is frustrating, I have not had a scan , I too am staying with Ibrance , I am also on Letrozole
I was on enhertu last year and needed better reading glasses and just thought it was the age issue. After, I was on eribulin and my eyes were twitching and watering a lot. Just a few of the many issues. I have noticed that since I have not been on chemo since the end of January, I don't need my glasses using the computer or my phone. I believe the vision problems were caused by the chemo.
It is really a pity. I had numbness on my skull in places, patchy soreness and headaches. Once stopped the majority of those issues stopped too. I am seeing a neurologist to explain the results of my MRI. Will keep you posted Figletf. Hang in there my friend. Blessings.
I went for routine 2 yr optician check up and apart from having poorer sight overall, was told a had a new bilateral beating nystagmus. As I had headaches and visual migraines I was referred to hospital urgently august last year and apptmt is due mid April 24!! Also got told I had large spiders web floaters after my cardiac op which partially blocked my sight and you read about lobular affecting eyes but it’s not a detached retina so am not so worried now - hope same for you ie nothing awful and has a treatable cause. I’m pretty deaf as well and terrified I’d be blind and deaf but so far so good. Fingers crossed
this is so interesting. I do a lot of hand sewing and I have noticed my eyes getting so much worse in the last few years since my MBC diagnosis! I was on Tamoxifen but now am receiving Piqray and Fluvestrant shots. I was quite worried about my eye test for drivers license renewal— but past it ! Guess this post will motivate me to get into to the ophthalmologist !
Yes,please do go to your opthalmologist.I had read that treatment might effect my eyes but it was so very strange that prior eye tests were all perfect.
I've not heard of this before! I was near sighted and had stigmatism and started wearing glasses when I was 11 years old. When I had cataract surgery about five years ago, I was able to have lenses implanted that corrected all that. Getting used to not wearin g glasses took a long time! LOL But now I'm having some vision issues and will see an optometrist in the same practice as the eye surgeon. I'll ask about the meds I've been on so am glad you brought this up! (Not glad you are having these issues, though! MBC is hard enough on its own!)
I had my MRI today but will have to wait until my oncologist gets the results. My opthaimologist was puzzled but he is a specialist in lens implants so he too is waiting for my MRI results.
