Eyebrows - what did you do for yours? (Vanity post)

Hi, wondering about your eyebrow journeys for anyone who lost some or all of yours while on chemo or other drugs?

I’m 2 and a half weeks in from my first chemo treatment, and my hair started coming out in huge bunches a few days ago, so some family came over yesterday and took care of that - I’m fully bald now.

I still have my full eyebrows and eyelashes but I hear that the eyebrows are typically the last to go…

I’ve seen some nice before/after pics of micro blading and tattoos for the eyebrows but not sure I’ll want something that permanent. I have some stencils and powder for the meantime…

I’ve also seen eyebrow lamination which looks amazing, just not sure if I’ll have any eyebrows to work with yet!

I’d love to hear what you did for yours and any thoughts on the topic. Thanks~

Hi there! I had my brows tattooed by a cosmetic tattoo artist that works with the plastic surgeon that did my breast reconstruction. Eventually I also had her tattoo my lips and eyeliner. I wake up every morning looking fresh and made up with no work at all. I wash my face, and I’m good to go! It’s not for everyone, but it makes my day easier and I get a lot of compliments, so I would recommend it, but I would also caution to do your homework on picking a licensed, seasoned, reputable artist that is familiar with cancer patients and protocols. Hope this helps! Take care!

Yes very helpful, thank you! I love hearing how doing it made you feel great. I got a couple of wigs and for now, I guess since the eyebrows are still in tact, you really can’t tell I’m wigging it!

I was cautioned not to tattoo my brows as the metal might effect my scans🤔

Oof I didn’t even consider that…thanks

my goal is to start with brow laminates if I can salvage any of my brows, I guess I’ll know soon!

I'm a long timer and gradually my hair has thinned! I no longer need to shave my legs or arm pits, which is one of the few plusses I.ve had, LOL. I still have enough hair on my head that it doesn't need any "help" tho maybe keeping it short is help. I've lost most of my eyelashes. Eyeliner helps me with that. My brows have thinned but not vanished. I use an eyebrow pencil, with the word "tattoo" in its name. At age 77, I worry about my looks alot less than when I was younger

Yes! I almost forgot how nice it’s been not to have to shave my arms (and barely my legs). I like that you have a great attitude and outlook on all of it. I wish vanity didn’t play such a part in my decision making but it does…hoping I get to a place where I don’t sweat this stuff as much either.

Benefits has an eyebrow pencil that give the impression of eye brow strokes-researched for ages. I never knew how important eyebrows were until that bit went almost bald 😳 I also bought the ‘pomade’ that also fills in gaps from same co. Pencils ok as long as it comes with spoolie.

As for lashes, I have a few and can work with them & eye liner helps a great deal. I’ve ditched my contacts and just keep to glasses. I cold capped and hair ok… I just need a ton of root touch up to cover greys… grey roots add to the illusion of baldness 😱but as you have shaved yours that won’t matter. Thinking of cutting shoulder length hair… I just couldn’t bare to lose my hair😏I feel awful being so vain, but it’s control to some extent.

Thank you for doing that research because that is exactly the kind of eyebrow pencil I’ve been looking for!

Yeah the bald thing is hugely distressing at first, but I have to say, now that it’s gone, the couple of wigs I have are super cute and my family tells me one of them looks even better than my own hairstyle did haha

Hi - I had microblading and shading combo with a professional cosmetologist and loved the results. I never had them fall out but they were extremely thin and I think they look great now. Go for it!!

No chemo, but with all the other meds, my brows became thin and sparse. I got eyebrow tattoos, and love them. Go to a professional. It's worth it.
