surgery and Ibrance

Morning all, , I was wondering if anyone has had knee replacement and had to go off Ibrance. I had to stop taking it 4 weeks before, and 6 weeks after surgery. I put off the surgery as long as I could because I was so nervous to go off the Ibrance. I continued letrozole and all other meds . I have a week to go before going back on and 3 weeks before I have labs . I am so nervous that I will have a problem. Also to those who bounced back right away after surgery you are so lucky. I thought all I had to do was daily PT and ice and follow Drs instructions and I would be good to go. I am 5 weeks and still in pain using a walker. Nights are the worst trying to sleep. Since I can only take Tylenol, I have no relief. Has anyone else experienced either stopping Ibrance that long or having knee replacement ?

thanks, Marianne

I had to go off Ibrance for the same length of time. No ill effects. I decided that the doctors knew what they are doing. Be good to yourself.

Cheers, June S.

I went off ibrance for 6 weeks in February for a mental break . It did not change anything. I don’t feel well a lot of the time on Ibrance. Theresa

My wife had both knees replaced while on Ibrance, with similar down times each time to yours. Surgeries were successful (about six months apart) and they didn’t cause any problems returning to Ibrance either time. This all happened within her first year on Ibrance, which ultimately lasted about three and a half years before moving on to next three protocols. In one of the most positive/reassuring comments of our five plus year relationship so far, her onc had said at the time, “I can’t tell you how long you are going to live, but I CAN tell you that you are going to live long enough to be glad you had your knees done!” Besides being absolutely the right decision for her knees, it was a huge emotional boost just six months into her de novo MBC journey! Good luck with your recovery and definitely keep up with the PT!Dave

I have had to stop Ibrance for surgery too. I had carpal tunnel and cubitunnel surgery. Now on August 2nd having another surgery for a compressed nerve in my forearm. I have had weeks off from Ibrance since first surgery June 8th and I'm concerned. Also can't restart Ibrance until a week after this next surgery. I'm concerned too!
