hi.has eanyone else got malignant neoplasm of the breast?
Never heard of this. Get a second opinion and/or ask your National Health Service. Hope you get the right answers.
Cheers, June S.
A malignant neoplasm is just another name for a cancerous tumor. Is this something new and are you being offered treatment. You should get this taken care of, especially if it is growing fast.
Yes, in my original BC diagnosis in 2013 I was diagnosed with it in both breasts. Now with MBC that original diagnosis stays with me to identify what they are treating. It is a little confusing to me but obviously means something to them. It is on My Chart at Duke and all my scan reports. One main thing they focus on is that one breast was HER2+ and the other was not. Mine metastasized in my left lung but after 15 months I was NED so in remission. It is believed that the Arimedex I was taking for 7 years along with Herceptin infusions for a year after my double mastectomy got rid of the HER2+ so HR+ is why it spread. Hope this is helpful.
It is wonderful news that you are NED now, that's great. You had an unusual presentation of breast cancer it's good if they are repeating the above information when writing orders for scans or communicating with other docs - it will remind them to pay special attention because you presented initially with 2 different sub-types of cancer. Some people will have their cancers type change later down the line. The good news is you are NED 🎉 Mary
bettyhooe,
As threadsgirl said, this is the medical term for a cancerous tumor. As if the term cancerous tumor is not scary enough to hear.
Best,
Colleen
I thought it might be a little blunt to put it that way, I apologize if it was scary. Just wanted to not give a wordy explanation that might be as confusing as “malignant neoplasm” (Dr speak). This is a scary disease, hope you are ok.
