I heard having these super funky hot flashes could indicate a silver lining in cancer treatments/therapy. I will be discussing with onc. Any thoughts?

Yes, it is an indication that your estogen-blocking, aromataae inhibiting drug you are probably taking is working.

The only thing I know is that they are a side affect of my Ibrance, but I like Mary's post. Go with it. It makes being on the meds so much easier when there's a ray of sun peeking out of the storm clouds.⛅

I had hot flashes from taking Letrozole, but good news was that they subsided. My body needed to adjust to the lack if estrogen.

I sure hope this is true. I’ve had hourly hot flashes for over 3 years and I’ve always hoped they’d subside, but not yet. I’ve been on Letrozole and Ibrance the whole time.

Hi, I too was experiencing brutal hot flashes.....but i went through Menopause cold turkey no hormones. Just hot flashes and the nasties (which i am not n everyone was surprised when i spoke up lol ) and the blues at times. I had an Onc appointment and he asked how I was tolerating the Exemstane and I said just fine other then hot flashes and my feet swell up at night. So he prescribed something for me which helps with both....and since 2019 I been having severe L breast pain (which I told all my drs.) and no one was concerned.... that would come on if i reached for something, or bent over to pick something up or just turned my head to the left to answer my husband.....which came on since i wasnt taking the pill he gave me everyday. When I mentioned at my last appointment in beginning of June he asked if I was taking the pill he gave me for hot flashes and I said I seem to be tolerating them fine. But I started to take the pill again 2 x a day and the breast pain stopped. amen. I was excruciating. A few seconds but I would scream in agony.

I told my oncologist that I was experiencing hot flashes and my feet swelled up....but not complaining cause I was on another extrogen blocking drug....N the side effects from that were unbearable.... I had to stop it.. My new oncologist put me on Exemestane and I am tolerating it very well....He also prescribed Gabapentin and I take it twice a day No hot flashes. N i was having very painful breast pain in my lumpectomy site and the Gabby stopped my breast pain. I suffered with that pain since 2019 and my doctors did nothing. and finally we moved to a new state and I have all new doctors who are just wonderful. they ran all kinds of tests where i live now bone scan showed bilateral arthritis shoulders, hips, ankles feet and my 2 big toes. In my big toes I notice I have no feeling in them when i take a shower . Honestly I cant complain. My first cycle of Ibrance just made me feel very tired. I read a few bio on the week off of it...and it worried me. but no side effects at all blood work showed my WBC platelets and neutrophils plummeted. Also he compared my 2 CT scans from Feb to April and one of my lung nodules shrunk. Thank the Lord. Staying Positive and still dancing.

Hi H,

Did you try to get t your onc to prescribe Gabapentin, it really works for your hot flashes, and any nerve pain you’re experiencing.
