Has anybody had pain after radiation? I am having right humerus and 4/5th rib on back radiated and the back pain is unbearable-took oxy which I hate-to constipating. This is my first bout of radiation for bone CA.

Radiation pain
I don't have the experience/insight that you're seeking, but just wanted to say that I'm sorry for what you're dealing with! Best, Lynn
Short reply :yes with everything increasing amounts of oxy. Massive constipation even with capacetabine
Oh thank you, I think no the techs thought I was crazy. I see the doc on Monday. The nurse said I wouldn’t have any problem, because it is a short five days.
I had RT on my spine in December and I was advised that it can cause inflammation and therefore pain. We're you given any advice regarding aftercare or any leaflets etc?
Yes I did. 4 to 6 weeks post radiation to my back I experienced a few weeks of burning pain. I was very worried but it settled completely - 2 years since radiotherapy.
I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this! In my case, the radiation actually remediated the pain in my pelvis! I could walk shortly after starting the course of radiation…do ask the doctor about gabapentin as that also helped me when I was experiencing nerve pain, though I’m not sure if that may be the source of your pain where radiation may have impacted a major nerve. Also, do ask about adding Claritin (loratadine) to your daily pills…this antihistamine helps with bone pain🥰 who knew?
hi Books. very sorry to hear! i had radiation therapy to lumbar spine (L5) in 2019. i believe it was two weeks. i absolutely had increased pain...needed to increase the oxy dose for the duration. i use miralax and stool softeners for constipation, which for me, is now chronic due to daily pain meds. it works💩....lol. sorry about the graphics but thought maybe it would make you smile😉. good ideas above as well. hoping your pain lessens quickly!hugs....

The pain increased after the radiation but gradually subsided after a week or so. In the long run, it helped over all. It may get worse before it gets better!
I had 10 radiation treatments to my C4 and 10 to my femur. Prior to radiation I had neck and shoulder pain. I had no pain during or after radiation. The pain in my neck improved, but did not go away until I had surgery to stabilize a loose C5. After that all my neck and shoulder pain went away.
