I read recently that alpha lipoic acid may help with pain in the feet and hands, and help you handle glucose. Does anyone know if there are contra indications from breast cancer (and the drugs that treat it) to taking it? Thanks in advance.

Alpha lipoic acid
Hi there - I take R alpha lipoic acid each day as part of my supplement regime for immune system support and have since Jan 2021. I take Letrozole and Palbociclib and always check with the pharmacy at my cancer centre for any interactions which there are not with that supplement. My oncologist keeps a dignified silence about my supplements! I am currently NEAD.
Does this supplement seem to benefit you in any way?
I suggest you ask your onc or pharmacist. Probably pharmacist is better!
I saw my PCP, a naturopath, this week and asked about the alpha lipoic acid. He ok'd it.
FWIW, I also asked about an adrenal formula that contained ashwagandha and he said NOT to take it— that in addition to the ashwagandha it had B vitamins and not all B's were good to take as supplements with breast cancer.
I see my onc on the 15 th and will double check with her on the alpha lipoic acid.
Apparently ashwagandha is bad for ER positive cancers …
