Is anyone on affinitor and aromasin?

Just came from M D Anderson with Dr wanting to change meds after progression . I was on Ibrance and letrozole for 3 years. Stage 4 du Novo to bones since 2018. How you ladies doing on this? I’m still thinking ....

Not sure I can help but thought I would try. I think 3 yrs on Ibrance is a good run. So much depends on the amount of progression and other things as well. If you are in doubt about changing medications ask for a second opinion. No need to rush this decision. Most oncologists want to change after progression but I do believe this is changing and more doctors are not so quick to change especially if the progression is small. Hope I understood your question correctly.

Thanks and I will keep this in mind. He said no progression but calls me two weeks later and says he see it. Hard to trust him with 5 min and doesn’t answer questions. 🙏🌹

Well the doctor could have seen something that he missed the first time. At least he let you know. However if you don't trust him it is good to get a second opinion and also look into finding another oncologist.

I'm a long timer and started treatment for mbc with bone mets after initial diagnosis in 2004 long before meds like Ibrance and Affinitor. I got nearly 5 years from Letrozole and then over 9 from Faslodex. I'm on third line treatment with aromsin and have been for 3 years. MDA has a very good reputation--some would say it;s the top place for bc treatment in the US. Did they talk at all about any other possible next treatment? Whatever you end up on next, I hope it will work well for years for you!

Thanks and what are you taking now? I took Ibrance and letrozole 3 years but progressing. I never did anything else. Two new areas they say. Tumor marker was slowly rising and due for lab next week. Hope all goes well if I start these meds🙏✝️

Yes affinitor and aromasin is what he wants me to chang to.

Hello Photo-Bug! I am on those two and we will see because tomm I have lab and in April a Pet scan. It makes me nauseous at time with a horrible tast in my mouth -kinda sour or metallic. I’ve lost twelve pounds but really no other side effects . I was on the 7.5 mg dose and now on 5 mg of affinitor . I started feeling bad with pain and a low pulse. I was running around 42 and that was for about 5 days then a pacemaker was inserted. We are watching my response to the meds and if you are starting it I wish you the best. I have had no mouth sores as expected. I guess these meds effect everyone differently. Be strong ! 🙏✝️

Thanks for the note. Doc wants me to do IV Taxol and then Afinitor & Aromasin. I have read that if you have the mouth sores, put the Afinitor tablets in an empty gelatin capsule so the tablet doesn't touch your mouth. Sounds like a good idea to me. I don't want to lose any more weight. I just dropped 10 pounds while being on Piqray. When I start, I hope the doc has me on one of the lower doses.May your treatment be kind to you and do its job.

I just got my tumor markers and it lowered in one 2 points and the other 7 points. I see the dr in the am and I will suspect he will raise dose of affinitor to 7.5 mg with the aromasin. My L D level is normal too but on the high side. I really liked Ibrance but after 3 1/2 years he felt not worker anymore. I have never been on chemo or radiation so hopefully we will see.. we are strong and will fight this! 🙏✝️🌹 I wish you the best....
