I have been on Gemcitabine for I think two and a half months, once a week for three weeks, one week off. So far I have experienced being more tired, some vomiting (not much, am on meds for it), some hair thinning, some flu like symptoms after for maybe two days after, some mouth sores, constipation. I am in general trying to slow down as far as my activity but not alot, I need to stay active, seems to be good for me. Has anyone been on Gemzar long term?
take care ladies, think about you often

I've been on it since February. I take 1500mg morning and evening, 2 weeks on and 1 week off. I definitely have some fatigue but I push myself through it. I had a lot of nausea when I first started. I added Pepcid AC twice daily and it took care of it. I do experience some tummy upset & diarrhea on my week off. The only real bothersome side effect for me is the hand and foot syndrome. My biggest complaint is that it made my feet ugly and I can't wear sandals. I can live with that!!
Hi SusieSorry I have noe perience of this treatment, but I agree with in needing to keep active and finding it helpful. I wish you well

Hi SusieIM -
i don't have experience with that treatment but just wanted to say that I'm sorry about the side-effects you're dealing with. I'm hoping it gets better and that the treatment is effective for a very long time...(heart!)...
